What goes wrong
Three things that cost Angel clubs a supplier
Clubs in Angel rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.
-
Running out at the evening peak
Towel demand stacks into roughly two hours rather than spreading across opening. A par count set on a daily average leaves the Angel rack empty exactly when the floor is busiest.
-
Towels that come back smelling
A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use. Oil left in the fibre only announces itself once the towel warms up, which is after it has reached a member.
-
Stock that never quite balances
Towels walk. Every Angel club loses some, and an account that does not plan for shrinkage turns into a monthly argument about counts.
How it works
Getting a Angel club onto the round
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.
-
The count
We count against your peak rather than your average — a Monday evening and a Sunday morning in Angel are different businesses, and the par level has to survive both.
An hour, at peak
-
The round
The van is already in N1. Joining that round is what keeps a single studio priced as a stop rather than a journey.
N1 · 7 days
-
The switch
You are never between suppliers, and no evening is covered by rationing towels.
No gap in service
-
The account
One name, who has seen your floor at peak. Changes get made on a call rather than logged as a ticket.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one club around Islington? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
No third party touches Angel gym towelling
There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Angel collections run 7.9 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
What comes off a Angel gym floor is not what comes off a hotel bed. Body oil needs its own temperature and no softener, so towelling is classified separately rather than run at the tail of a linen load.

Changing supplier is not the January risk Angel clubs think
The reason Angel operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to gamble on towels. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.
- Before you commit
We count your peak, not your average
An hour on site at the time it actually matters. Towel demand stacks into two hours, and an average hides exactly that.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Angel evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
Month one is a measurement. From month two the par count reflects your real peak and your real shrinkage rather than an opening guess.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

The area
Angel, specifically
Stylish and bustling gateway to Islington, famous for its boutique shopping and nightlife. Unique to Angel.
Clubs here sit on the N1 round, and the hour that matters is the evening peak rather than the morning — Angel is close enough that a disrupted run is a second trip that day.

Angel towel service — the questions we get most
Do you collect in Angel?
Yes — Angel sits on the N1 round, 7 days, 7.9 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Barnsbury, Clerkenwell and Finsbury — the same vehicle covers them, so a club here can be added without moving anyone else.
- The driver knows the streets around King's Cross St Pancras, Angel and Farringdon — which matters when the drop has to land before the evening rush.
- A missed morning window here is recoverable the same day, because of that distance.
- 16 clubs and spas around N1 are already on this round — which is why the timings suit an evening peak rather than a hotel check-out.
Can you handle a spa as well as a gym floor?
Yes — a gym floor and a spa want opposite things from a towel. The gym side is judged on whether the rack is full; the spa side on how the robe feels.
- 2 spas around N1 are already on the round — and the timings suit treatment rooms as well as a gym floor.
- Bath mats run on a heavier classification — than towelling, and mixing the two shortens the life of both.
- One collection, one invoice — even where the two sides of the building want different specs.
- Hotel spas are a normal account — the bed linen side can go on the same round.
Is there a minimum term?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. The account should hold because it works, not because leaving is expensive.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — you are not held to a peak figure through a quiet quarter.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — we will count your peak while you are still under someone else.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — so there is never a Angel evening with an empty rack.
- If it is not working, say so — the fix is usually a number on the sheet rather than a new contract.
Our towels smell after a few hours — why?
It is oil left in the fibre, not the towel being old. A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use, because oil only announces itself once the towel warms up.
- Gym towelling runs on its own classification — Angel towels are classified for the soil they actually carry.
- Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, which is why we do not use it on gym stock.
- Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — that is a wash problem, not a replacement problem.
- Every load is temperature logged — so there is a record behind the classification rather than an assurance.
Members take towels — how is that counted?
Every Angel club loses towels, and an account that pretends otherwise turns into a monthly argument about counts.
- Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — rather than discovered in month three.
- You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
- A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — and we would rather flag it than absorb it quietly.
- On hire, fair wear is our cost — greying and thinning are ours to replace.
What would a Angel club cost to supply?
There is no honest price list for towel work. Towel volume depends on member numbers and how hard the floor turns over, so a published list would be wrong for most clubs.
- We count a real week in Angel before quoting — rather than pricing off your last invoice.
- The count includes January — peak months are the ones the par count has to survive.
- No minimum order — a small Angel studio pays the same per towel as a club ten times the size.
- The count and the quote cost nothing — and commit you to nothing.
What stops us running short in the evening?
By counting against your peak rather than your daily average. Every other hour looks fine on any count, which is why averages keep passing and racks keep emptying.
- We count on site at the time it matters — an hour on the Angel floor at peak tells us more than a year of delivery notes.
- A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — which is why the count is taken twice rather than once.
- January is planned in — the one spike everyone knows is coming is the one worth building into the count.
- If you run short twice, the count is wrong — we reset it against real usage rather than the opening estimate.
Do Angel clubs have to buy their own towels?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. The two sit on one invoice and one round.
- Hire — the rack is maintained for you, including the towels that fail first.
- Wash-only — the same towels that left Angel, never swapped into general stock.
- Most clubs split it — hired gym towels where nobody reads a label, own-branded robes in the spa where the branding is the point.
- You can move a line between the two later — it is a change to the sheet, not a new agreement.
Something specific to your Angel club?
Ask us directlyThe greenest wash is the one Angel does not repeat
Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- Angel is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one club.
- Keeping the fibre clear is what stops stock being replaced before its time.
- A greying towel moves to the back of the rotation rather than into a skip.
