What goes wrong

Three things that cost Ware clubs a supplier

Clubs in Ware rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.

  • Running out at the evening peak

Towel demand stacks into roughly two hours rather than spreading across opening. A par count set on a daily average leaves the Ware rack empty exactly when the floor is busiest.

  • Towels that come back smelling

A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use. Oil left in the fibre only announces itself once the towel warms up, which is after it has reached a member.

  • Stock that never quite balances

Towels walk. Every Ware club loses some, and an account that does not plan for shrinkage turns into a monthly argument about counts.

How it works

Four steps to a Ware club on the round

Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.

Serving SG12 Since 2009
  1. The count

We count against your peak rather than your average — a Monday evening and a Sunday morning in Ware are different businesses, and the par level has to survive both.

    An hour, at peak

  2. The round

The van is already in SG12. Joining that round is what keeps a single studio priced as a stop rather than a journey.

    SG12 · 7 days

  3. The switch

Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down, so there is never an evening with an empty rack.

    No gap in service

  4. The account

One name, who has seen your floor at peak. Changes get made on a call rather than logged as a ticket.

    One name, not a queue

Running more than one club around East Hertfordshire? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.

How it is processed

Nothing from Ware leaves our own plants

There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Ware collections run 20.4 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.

Gym towelling is its own classification. Sweat and body oil need a different wash to bed linen or table linen — get it wrong and the towel smells clean until it warms up.

Switching supplier in Ware without an empty rack

The reason Ware operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to gamble on towels. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.

  1. Before you commit

We count your peak, not your average

An hour on site at the time it actually matters. Towel demand stacks into two hours, and an average hides exactly that.

  2. The handover

Stock lands before the old supplier stops

The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Ware evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.

  3. After

Par counts adjust once we have seen a month

Month one is a measurement. From month two the par count reflects your real peak and your real shrinkage rather than an opening guess.

Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.

Ware towel service — the questions we get most

Is Ware on a towel round?

Yes — Ware sits on the SG12 round, 7 days, 20.4 miles from our Wembley plant.

  • Shared with Stanstead Abbotts, Hertford and Hoddesdon — adding you changes the schedule, not the route.
  • The driver knows the streets around Ware — the same crew runs it weekly, so nobody is looking for your service entrance.
  • A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, because Ware is only 20.4 miles out.
  • 6 clubs and spas around SG12 are already on this round — which is why the timings suit an evening peak rather than a hotel check-out.
Do you lock SG12 clubs into a term?

No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. We would rather keep you on the service than on the paperwork.

  • Terms flex with seasonal demand — Ware in January and Ware in August are different clubs, and the account should say so.
  • Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — there is no cost to finding out.
  • Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — so there is never a Ware evening with an empty rack.
  • If it is not working, say so — most problems are a wrong par count or a wrong delivery window, and both are fixable without changing supplier.
Is there a reason Ware towels come back smelling?

It is oil left in the fibre, not the towel being old. The towel smells fine cold and dry, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.

  • Gym towelling runs on its own classification — not as the tail end of a bed linen load.
  • Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, which is why we do not use it on gym stock.
  • Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — and the fix costs nothing but a change of classification.
  • Every load is temperature logged — so there is a record behind the classification rather than an assurance.
What happens about towels that go missing?

Towels walk. The question is whether the account expects it.

  • Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — so the rack does not empty because the maths assumed nothing walked.
  • You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
  • A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — a step change in shrinkage is information, not an invoice line.
  • On hire, fair wear is our cost — greying and thinning are ours to replace.
How is gym towel laundry priced?

Priced on your peak and your member numbers, not off a rate card. Two clubs with the same membership can differ twofold in towel usage depending on the floor.

  • We count a real week in Ware before quoting — the invoice records what you were sold, not what you used.
  • The count includes January — peak months are the ones the par count has to survive.
  • No minimum order — a small Ware studio pays the same per towel as a club ten times the size.
  • The count and the quote cost nothing — there is no cost to finding out what it would look like.
Our rack empties at six — can you fix that?

We count at peak, because that is the only hour the count has to survive. Every other hour looks fine on any count, which is why averages keep passing and racks keep emptying.

  • We count on site at the time it matters — an hour on the Ware floor at peak tells us more than a year of delivery notes.
  • A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — which is why the count is taken twice rather than once.
  • January is planned in — new-year membership is the most predictable spike in the trade and should never be handled as an emergency.
  • If you run short twice, the count is wrong — a second shortage is a counting error, not bad luck.
Is towel hire available to Ware clubs?

Both, and mixed accounts are normal. One collection covers whichever way each line is set up.

  • Hire — stock, replacement and shrinkage planning are ours; you never reorder.
  • Wash-only — the same towels that left Ware, never swapped into general stock.
  • Most clubs split it — hired gym towels where nobody reads a label, own-branded robes in the spa where the branding is the point.
  • You can move a line between the two later — it is a change to the sheet, not a new agreement.
Is a Ware spa a separate account?

Yes — a gym floor and a spa want opposite things from a towel. The gym side is judged on whether the rack is full; the spa side on how the robe feels.

  • Robes are laundered to keep their handle — a robe that feels like a gym towel has been washed like one.
  • Bath mats run on a heavier classification — because wet-area linen takes a different kind of soil.
  • One collection, one invoice — no second supplier for the spa side.
  • Hotel spas are a normal account — and the hotel laundry page covers how the rooms side is priced.

The cheapest wash for Ware is the second one you avoid

Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.

  • The SG12 round is a shared journey rather than a separate trip to Ware.
  • Keeping the fibre clear is what stops stock being replaced before its time.
  • Hire stock is rotated through its full life rather than binned when it greys.
