What goes wrong

Towel demand in Wing is not spread across the day

Clubs in Wing rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.

  • Running out at the evening peak

Between five and seven the rack empties faster than the rest of the day combined. An average hides that completely, which is why average-based counts fail at peak.

  • Towels that come back smelling

Sweat and body oil build up in the fibre and a general wash does not shift them. The towel smells clean cold, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.

  • Stock that never quite balances

Loss is normal and predictable. Pretending otherwise is what turns a towel account into a reconciliation exercise nobody wins.

How it works

Four steps, and the Wing rack stops being your problem

Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.

Serving LU7 Since 2009
  1. The count

An hour on the Wing floor at the time it actually matters. The number that matters is the five-to-seven number, not the daily one.

    An hour, at peak

  2. The round

The van is already in LU7. Joining that round is what keeps a single studio priced as a stop rather than a journey.

    LU7 · 7 days

  3. The switch

The changeover in Wing overlaps by design — new stock lands while the old contract is still running.

    No gap in service

  4. The account

One name, who has seen your floor at peak. Changes get made on a call rather than logged as a ticket.

    One name, not a queue

Running more than one club around Buckinghamshire? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.

How it is processed

Your Wing stock, washed by us and nobody else

There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Wing collections run 30.1 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.

What comes off a Wing gym floor is not what comes off a hotel bed. Body oil needs its own temperature and no softener, so towelling is classified separately rather than run at the tail of a linen load.

A Wing switch nobody on the floor notices

The reason Wing operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to gamble on towels. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.

  1. Before you commit

We count your peak, not your average

We count the Wing floor between five and seven rather than take a number off your last invoice — the invoice records what you were sold, not what the rack needed.

  2. The handover

Stock lands before the old supplier stops

You are never between suppliers. New stock is on the shelf before the last collection of the old contract.

  3. After

Par counts adjust once we have seen a month

Month one is a measurement. From month two the par count reflects your real peak and your real shrinkage rather than an opening guess.

Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.

The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

  • For high-end short-stay apartments, guest reviews live and die by linen quality. We get hotel-grade crispness that consistently earns us five-star cleanliness ratings, and the communication lines are short when something needs resolving.

Local knowledge

Wing, specifically

A historic village with one of the oldest churches in England and a strong community heart. Unique to Wing.

What makes Wing its own job is when the demand lands. Towel volume stacks into two hours, so the round is timed against that rather than against the distance.

Wing questions, answered

Do you cover Wing?

Yes — Wing sits on the LU7 round, 7 days, 30.1 miles from our Wembley plant.

  • Shared with Wingrave, Stewkley and Whitchurch — adding you changes the schedule, not the route.
  • Collections here run to scheduled days, agreed when the account opens, because Wing is only 30.1 miles out.
  • Multi-site operators run on staggered days, so no club is left short while another is being collected from.
Do you count against our busiest hour?

By counting against your peak rather than your daily average. Towel demand does not spread evenly across opening hours — it stacks, and an average hides exactly that.

  • We count on site at the time it matters — an hour on the Wing floor at peak tells us more than a year of delivery notes.
  • A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — and a single number that averages them fails on the busier one.
  • January is planned in — new-year membership is the most predictable spike in the trade and should never be handled as an emergency.
  • If you run short twice, the count is wrong — we reset it against real usage rather than the opening estimate.
Do you hire towels, or only launder ours in Wing?

Both, and mixed accounts are normal. One collection covers whichever way each line is set up.

  • Hire — the rack is maintained for you, including the towels that fail first.
  • Wash-only — the same towels that left Wing, never swapped into general stock.
  • Most clubs split it — hire what nobody looks at, keep your own name on what a member wears.
  • You can move a line between the two later — it is a change to the sheet, not a new agreement.
Are robes done differently from gym towels?

Yes, and they are genuinely different jobs on the same account. Volume on one side of the building, finish on the other.

  • Robes are laundered to keep their handle — softness is the point on a robe, and it is achieved by the wash rather than by softener.
  • Bath mats run on a heavier classification — because wet-area linen takes a different kind of soil.
  • One collection, one invoice — the split is in the classification, not in the account.
  • Hotel spas are a normal account — with one account manager across both.
Can we leave if it is not working?

No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. We would rather keep you on the service than on the paperwork.

  • Terms flex with seasonal demand — Wing in January and Wing in August are different clubs, and the account should say so.
  • Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — the count and the quote commit you to nothing.
  • Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — so there is never a Wing evening with an empty rack.
  • If it is not working, say so — most problems are a wrong par count or a wrong delivery window, and both are fixable without changing supplier.
What stops gym towels smelling?

It is oil left in the fibre, not the towel being old. The towel smells fine cold and dry, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.

  • Gym towelling runs on its own classification — the programme is chosen for body oil rather than inherited from whatever ran before.
  • Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, which is why we do not use it on gym stock.
  • Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — and the fix costs nothing but a change of classification.
  • Every load is temperature logged — which matters if you are ever asked to show how stock is handled.
Who pays for towels that walk?

Every Wing club loses towels, and an account that pretends otherwise turns into a monthly argument about counts.

  • Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — so the rack does not empty because the maths assumed nothing walked.
  • You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
  • A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — it usually means a change on the floor rather than a laundry problem.
  • On hire, fair wear is our cost — greying and thinning are ours to replace.
Do you quote, or work off a tariff?

It is quoted, not tariffed. Towel volume depends on member numbers and how hard the floor turns over, so a published list would be wrong for most clubs.

  • We count a real week in Wing before quoting — rather than pricing off your last invoice.
  • The count includes January — which is the one spike everybody knows is coming and most quotes ignore.
  • No minimum order — so a boutique studio is an ordinary account and is priced per item like any other.
  • The count and the quote cost nothing — including while you are still under contract elsewhere.

The cheapest wash for Wing is the second one you avoid

Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.

  • Wing is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one club.
  • Keeping the fibre clear is what stops stock being replaced before its time.
  • Stock is graded and rotated instead of written off at the first mark.
