What goes wrong

A cafe runs on cloths nobody in Sipson wants to think about

Cafes in Sipson rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of mornings that started badly.

  • Deliveries that land after opening

A cafe opens earlier than almost anything else on the street. A drop timed for mid-morning is a drop that missed the shift it was for, and in Sipson that means serving the first hours on yesterday's cloths.

  • Cloths that come back grey

Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup are not the same soil as food service. Washed on a general cycle they build up, whites go dull within weeks, and the counter is where it shows.

  • Running short on the busy day

Par counts set on a quiet Tuesday leave you short on Saturday. Most Sipson cafes are not short of linen overall — they are short of it twice a week.

How it works

Four steps to a Sipson cafe on the round

Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the count and the timing right and the service stops being something you manage.

Serving UB7 Since 2009
  1. The count

We look at a real week in Sipson: how many aprons a shift gets through, what is still in the wash when you open, and which two days you run short.

    Half an hour, on site

  2. The round

UB7 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before opening rather than during it.

    UB7 · 7 days

  3. The switch

You are never between suppliers. The first delivery arrives before the last collection of the old agreement.

    No gap in service

  4. The account

One name, who has seen your counter and knows the UB7 driver. Problems get solved on a call rather than logged.

    One name, not a queue

Running more than one site around Hillingdon? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.

How it is processed

Sipson cloths are not subcontracted

There are two buildings between your linen and ours, and we own both. Sipson collections run 9.0 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.

Cafe soil is its own problem. Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup need a different wash to food-service linen, so aprons and cloths run on their own classification rather than whatever the machine was doing before.

Changing supplier is not the risk Sipson operators think

The reason Sipson operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to risk it. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.

  1. Before you commit

We count a real week, not an average one

We watch a full Sipson week rather than take a number off your last invoice — the invoice tells us what you were sold, not what you used.

  2. The handover

Stock lands before the old supplier stops

The two contracts overlap on purpose. Sipson gets its first delivery while the old supplier is still collecting, so there is no morning in between.

  3. After

Par counts adjust once we have seen a month

Any first count is a guess. The difference is whether anyone comes back and corrects it — after four weeks, we do.

Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.

About Sipson

Sipson, specifically

A community-focused airport border village with a blend of traditional and modern housing. Unique to Sipson.

What makes Sipson its own job is how early it starts. The round is planned so the aprons are on the shelf before the first coffee, not halfway through the morning.

Cafe laundry in Sipson — what operators ask

Can you reach Sipson 7 days?

Yes — Sipson sits on the UB7 round, 7 days, 9.0 miles from our Wembley plant.

  • Shared with Harlington, Harmondsworth and Heathrow — the same vehicle covers them, which is why a counter here can be added without moving anyone else.
  • The driver knows the streets around Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 — which matters more at seven in the morning than it does at eleven.
  • A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, which is what 9.0 miles buys you.
Can we leave if it is not working?

No long-term tie-in and no exit fee.

  • Terms flex with seasonal demand — Sipson in February and Sipson in July are different businesses, and the account should say so.
  • Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — there is no cost to finding out what it would look like.
  • Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — so there is never a morning in Sipson with nothing clean.
Do you take single-site cafes in UB7?

No minimum, on any line. A one-site independent is the normal shape of a cafe account.

  • Small sites go on the same UB7 round — which is why size barely moves the per-item price.
  • 4 cafes around UB7 are already on it — which is why the timings suit opening rather than check-out.
  • Volume changes are expected — a quiet January in Sipson and a busy July are the same account.
What is the difference between hire and wash-only in UB7?

Both, and mixed accounts are normal. The two sit on one invoice and one round.

  • Hire — stock, replacement and par management are ours; you never reorder.
  • Wash-only — your own branded aprons come back to you, the same items, not pooled.
  • Plenty of cafes do both — branding matters on the apron, rarely on the tea towel behind the counter.
Can you cover a busy weekend in Sipson?

Tell your account manager and a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.

  • If it happens twice, the par count is wrong — we reset it against what you actually used, not what was estimated at setup.
  • Most Sipson cafes are not short of linen overall — the shortage has a shape, and the shape is Saturday.
  • Seasonal swings are planned in — we set them ahead rather than react.
We serve food as well as coffee — separate account?

No. Kitchen cloths and table linen go on the same UB7 collection and the same invoice.

  • No second supplier and no second delivery day — because the menu grew.
  • Chef whites, oven cloths and table linen — all available on the same account, hire or wash-only.
  • 8 restaurants around UB7 are on this round too — the kitchen classification already runs on it weekly.
Can you deliver before we open in Sipson?

Before you open, because that is how the UB7 round is ordered. Cafes open earlier than almost anything else we serve.

  • The time is agreed when the account opens — it goes on the round sheet, not into a delivery window.
  • Timed around Heathrow Terminals 2 & 3 so the van is not arriving into the worst of it.
  • If a drop is missed, a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.
Our aprons look dull after a month — why?

Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup are not the same soil as food-service linen. On a general cycle they build up and whites dull within weeks.

  • Cafe cloths and aprons run on their own classification — not as the tail end of a kitchen load.
  • Milk protein needs the right temperature, not just a hotter one — overheating fixes the stain instead of lifting it.
  • Grey whites are usually a wash problem, not an age problem — if stock is replaced every few months, the cycle is wrong.

Something specific to your Sipson cafe?

The cheapest wash for Sipson is the second one you avoid

Most of the environmental cost of cafe linen is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.

  • Sipson is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one site.
  • Washing cafe soil on the right cycle is what stops stock being replaced every few months.
  • Hire stock is repaired and rotated rather than binned at the first mark.
