What goes wrong
An empty rack at six is the Tower complaint you hear about
Clubs in Tower rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.
-
Running out at the evening peak
Between five and seven the rack empties faster than the rest of the day combined. An average hides that completely, which is why average-based counts fail at peak.
-
Towels that come back smelling
A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use. Oil left in the fibre only announces itself once the towel warms up, which is after it has reached a member.
-
Stock that never quite balances
Towels walk. Every Tower club loses some, and an account that does not plan for shrinkage turns into a monthly argument about counts.
How it works
Four steps, and the Tower rack stops being your problem
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.
-
The count
We count at peak because that is the only hour the par level has to survive. Every other hour looks fine on any count.
An hour, at peak
-
The round
EC3N already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before the evening rush rather than during it.
EC3N · 7 days
-
The switch
Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down, so there is never an evening with an empty rack.
No gap in service
-
The account
The same person handles Tower every week, which is why a change to your par count does not need explaining twice.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one club around City of London? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
Tower towels are not subcontracted
There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Tower collections run 9.6 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
What comes off a Tower gym floor is not what comes off a hotel bed. Body oil needs its own temperature and no softener, so towelling is classified separately rather than run at the tail of a linen load.

Changing supplier is not the January risk Tower clubs think
Most Tower clubs stay with a supplier they have stopped rating, because changing one feels like a risk in the week membership is highest. It is not.
- Before you commit
We count your peak, not your average
An hour on site at the time it actually matters. Towel demand stacks into two hours, and an average hides exactly that.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Tower evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
First counts are an estimate. After four weeks we set them against what you actually used, including what walked out of the door.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

Local knowledge
Tower, specifically
An energetic part of Tower featuring a mix of historic architecture and modern living. Unique to Tower.
What makes Tower its own job is when the demand lands. Towel volume stacks into two hours, so the round is timed against that rather than against the distance.

Gym & spa towels in Tower — what operators ask
Do you collect in Tower?
Yes — Tower sits on the EC3N round, 7 days, 9.6 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Aldgate, Billingsgate and Lime Street — adding you changes the schedule, not the route.
- The driver knows the streets around Mansion House, Bank and Monument — the same crew runs it weekly, so nobody is looking for your service entrance.
- A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, which is what 9.6 miles buys you.
- 31 clubs and spas around EC3N are already on this round — so the vehicle is sized for towel volume rather than adapted to it.
Members take towels — how is that counted?
Towels walk. The question is whether the account expects it.
- Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — which is the difference between a working count and an optimistic one.
- You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
- A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — it usually means a change on the floor rather than a laundry problem.
- On hire, fair wear is our cost — you pay for the service, not for towels reaching the end of their life.
What would a Tower club cost to supply?
It is quoted, not tariffed. The number follows turnover, not floor area.
- We count a real week in Tower before quoting — including the evening peak, which is where every estimate falls over.
- The count includes January — peak months are the ones the par count has to survive.
- No minimum order — size barely moves the per-item price.
- The count and the quote cost nothing — including while you are still under contract elsewhere.
What stops us running short in the evening?
The par count is set on your busiest two hours, not on an average day. Towel demand does not spread evenly across opening hours — it stacks, and an average hides exactly that.
- We count on site at the time it matters — not from a figure on your last invoice.
- A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — the par level has to survive both, so it is set against the worse of the two.
- January is planned in — new-year membership is the most predictable spike in the trade and should never be handled as an emergency.
- If you run short twice, the count is wrong — and correcting it is our job, not a favour.
Do Tower clubs have to buy their own towels?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. The two sit on one invoice and one round.
- Hire — stock, replacement and shrinkage planning are ours; you never reorder.
- Wash-only — the same towels that left Tower, never swapped into general stock.
- Most clubs split it — hire what nobody looks at, keep your own name on what a member wears.
- You can move a line between the two later — without reopening the account.
Can you handle a spa as well as a gym floor?
Yes — a gym floor and a spa want opposite things from a towel. The gym side is judged on whether the rack is full; the spa side on how the robe feels.
- 1 spas around EC3N are already on the round — the classification already runs weekly.
- Bath mats run on a heavier classification — because wet-area linen takes a different kind of soil.
- One collection, one invoice — no second supplier for the spa side.
- Hotel spas are a normal account — and the hotel laundry page covers how the rooms side is priced.
Is there a minimum term?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. Nothing in the agreement is designed to make leaving awkward.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — Tower in January and Tower in August are different clubs, and the account should say so.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — we will count your peak while you are still under someone else.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — so there is never a Tower evening with an empty rack.
- If it is not working, say so — most problems are a wrong par count or a wrong delivery window, and both are fixable without changing supplier.
Our towels smell after a few hours — why?
It is oil left in the fibre, not the towel being old. The towel smells fine cold and dry, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.
- Gym towelling runs on its own classification — the programme is chosen for body oil rather than inherited from whatever ran before.
- Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, which is why we do not use it on gym stock.
- Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — and the fix costs nothing but a change of classification.
- Every load is temperature logged — and the log sits against your account, not a general plant figure.
Something specific to your Tower club?

Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- The EC3N round is a shared journey rather than a separate trip to Tower.
- Most towels retired early are over-softened rather than worn out.
- Hire stock is rotated through its full life rather than binned when it greys.
