Why Alfold hosts switch

The review is written about the bed in Alfold

Hosts in Alfold rarely lose a booking over the photos. They lose it over a changeover that ran late, linen that came back grey, or a set that never arrived.

  • Checkout to check-in

Five hours is not a turnaround window, it is a deadline — which is why the clean set has to already be in the property.

  • What the photos show

Domestic machines and household detergent grey a white duvet cover in a season. Guests photograph it, and the listing carries the result.

  • Back-to-back bookings

Back-to-back bookings need a set on the bed, a set in the wash and a set on the shelf. Most hosts discover the third set the hard way.

How it works

Set up once in Alfold, then stop thinking about it

Nothing here needs a decision from you after the first week.

Serving GU6 Since 2009
  1. Beds and turns

We look at a month of real occupancy in Alfold — how often each bed turns, not how many doors you hold keys to.

    Before anything changes

  2. One on, one with us, one spare

Two sets leaves you exposed the moment two bookings meet. The third set is what makes the changeover independent of us.

    Adjusted, not renegotiated

  3. A fixed slot

Collections and drops land in a window before check-in, not 'sometime on the day'.

    Timed around GU6 access

  4. Bagged by set

Linen comes back pressed, folded and bagged by set, so a cleaner picks up one bag per bed rather than sorting a pile.

    One bag per bed

Behind the round

Alfold sets are processed where we say they are

Your sets go to one place: a Wembley plant 33.1 miles from Alfold, staffed by us rather than rented capacity somewhere else.

Commercial washing holds temperature long enough to sanitise, and commercial pressing is why a duvet cover photographs well after fifty turns rather than five.

Prices are indicative and per load, not per property. Your Alfold quote is priced on beds and turnover — a two-bed turning twice a week is not the same account as one turning twice a month.

Alfold handovers happen between guests, not during them

Most Alfold hosts stay with an arrangement they have stopped rating — a launderette, a cleaner with a machine — because changing it feels like risking a booking. Here is how it runs.

  1. First, the count

We count beds and turns, not properties

We count beds and how often each one turns. A three-bed let out as a whole is a different account from three rooms let separately.

  2. Week two

You start with clean sets already in the property

The first delivery lands while your current arrangement is still running, so for a week you are carrying too much rather than too little.

  3. Settled

It becomes a delivery you stop noticing

Collections settle into a standing slot, processed at our own plant rather than passed on. Dunsfold and Cranleigh are already collected on the same run, so this is an existing journey rather than a new one.

No tie-in and no minimum term. If you are quiet in January, the rate does not change.

  • Our members expect fresh sweat towels immediately after back-to-back spinning classes. They handle our daily volume seamlessly, and I would single out the punctuality and the clean, long-lasting scent of the eco-friendly detergents.
Marcus Thorne Studio Manager · Boutique fitness studio
  • In clinical and aesthetic practice, hygiene standards have to meet rigorous compliance. High-temperature sanitised gowns, drapes and bed covers arrive reliably every week. I trust their quality control completely.
Dr Elena Rostova Clinic Director · Private healthcare clinic
  • Running a busy dining room alongside eight letting rooms needs a versatile laundry partner. Kitchen aprons, table runners and bed sheets all go in one collection, and the seven-day pickup schedule flexes around us.
Liam Gallagher Operations & Pub Manager · Gastro pub with rooms
  • We use dozens of salon towels and client gowns every day. Stubborn hair dye and product stains come out effortlessly and our capes still look new. They are an indispensable part of the daily flow here.
Chloe St. Laurent Salon Owner & Manager · Hair & beauty salon
  • We rely on clean bolster covers, fleece blankets and eye pillows. Delicate fabrics are treated with care while still getting a deep, hypoallergenic sanitisation, and everything comes back beautifully presented.
Hannah Sterling Studio Coordinator · Yoga & pilates studio
  • From velvet seat throws to staff aprons and heavy bar towels, our eclectic mix of textiles is handled without fuss. The turnaround times and the account management are what stand out.
Kieran Davies Venue & Hospitality Manager · Boutique cinema & lounge
  • Back-to-back conferences and galas mean huge quantities of table skirts, stage linens and catering napkins at short notice. They have never missed a deadline on any of it.
Danielle Moreau Events Logistics Manager · Corporate event venue
  • Grooming generates heavy, fur-filled towels and specialist bedding that a standard machine cannot handle. Everything is collected and returned allergen-free, fluffy and sterilised. Top marks for taking on the difficult jobs.
Natasha Petrov Head Groomer & Manager · Pet grooming & daycare

About Alfold

Alfold, specifically

A quiet, rural village on the Surrey/Sussex border with a rich canal-side history. Unique to Alfold.

Access, not distance, is what makes Alfold its own problem — which is why the same driver runs the round and learns the buildings once.

Asked by Alfold hosts

Can you turn linen around for a same-day changeover in Alfold?

Not on the day, and nor can anyone else. Five hours is a deadline, not a turnaround window — which is why the clean set is delivered before the guest leaves.

  • Three sets per bed — one on the bed, one with us, one on the shelf — means the clean set is already in the Alfold property before the guest has left. The changeover stops depending on us, or on a machine, or on the traffic.
  • Collections and drops happen on the same visit, so there is no second trip and no window where a bed sits stripped waiting for a delivery.
  • a 33.1-mile plant distance is what makes a same-day recovery possible if a run is disrupted — the fix is hours away, not days.
  • The spare set is what protects the booking, and it is the cheapest insurance in the whole arrangement.
Do you serve short lets in Alfold?

Alfold is already on the round. The van passes 33.1 miles from the Wembley plant whether you are on it or not.

  • Shared with Dunsfold, Cranleigh and Hascombe, so a single flat here costs us a stop rather than a journey — which is why there is no minimum order.
  • 7 days collections, in a window agreed when the account opens.
  • a 33.1-mile round trip keeps the recovery window short, which is what a fixed-day service actually depends on.
Do I have to hire, or can you wash linen I already own in Alfold?

Either, and mixed accounts are normal. Hire from us, or we launder stock you already own — the GU6 round collects both the same way.

  • Owned stock stays yours. What you paid for, you keep.
  • Hire covers replacement — greying, wear and loss are ours to carry rather than a cost you absorb every season. For short lets that is usually the larger number, because linen ages in front of paying guests.
  • Hire also means consistency. Every set is the same specification, so a replacement does not arrive a shade off the rest of the flat.
Does hired linen look consistent over time?

That is the whole point of hiring rather than buying. A replacement arrives matching what is already in the Alfold flat, not a shade off it.

  • Items are pulled at the check stage so the decision about whether a cover has one more stay in it is ours.
  • Commercial pressing flattens a duvet cover in a way no home machine reproduces, and it is what the camera picks up.
  • Stains are re-treated before retirement, so a spill on a Saturday is not automatically a replacement cost on the Monday.
How many sets should I hold per bed?

Three, per bed, every time. Two is the number most Alfold hosts start with and the number that fails them on the first busy fortnight.

  • Two sets fails on a back-to-back. A Friday-to-Sunday followed by a Sunday-to-Wednesday leaves you short on the Sunday.
  • A sofa bed counts as a bed — if it sleeps someone, it needs three sets like everything else.
  • Towels turn faster than bed linen. They are the item that runs out first and the one nobody counts.
  • Reviewed after a month of real occupancy in Alfold and adjusted at no charge. Seasonal swing is expected and the level should move with it.
What happens if the flat is empty when you arrive?

However you already do it. Key safe, concierge, porter or cleaner — we work to the arrangement Alfold buildings already have rather than asking you to invent a new one.

  • The same driver runs the round, so access is learned once rather than re-explained to a new face each week.
  • Nothing is left on a doorstep. If access fails, the drop moves to the next visit and you are told the same day — not discovered by a guest.
  • Codes and key-safe details sit on the account, not in a driver's phone, and are changed on request.
We have four flats. Does that complicate it?

Yes, and it is the common case. Most Waverley accounts we open cover more than one address from the start.

  • Each property keeps its own par level, sized on its own occupancy rather than a portfolio average.
  • Consolidated billing with a per-property breakdown, so you see one number and can still tell which flat is consuming what.
  • Adding a property later is a change to the drop list, not a new contract, a new supplier relationship or a new price.
We have one studio — are we too small?

None, and no term either. One studio in Alfold is a stop on a van that already passes — the economics do not need a minimum.

  • No volume threshold attached to the quote. Seasonality is yours to manage, not ours to price around.
  • Growing later is a par-level change, not a renegotiation — adding a second flat does not reopen the contract.
  • No exit fee. If it is not working, you say so and we collect our stock.

Rewashing Alfold linen is the real environmental cost

Most of the environmental cost of hotel linen is rewashing and replacement, not the wash itself. In Alfold there is a second saving: the properties here sit close enough together that one round covers them, instead of separate journeys out from Wembley.

  • One GU6 round serves Alfold, Dunsfold and Cranleigh — 3 areas, one set of miles.
  • A 33.1-mile plant distance is the transport cost of every collection here — it is why routing matters more than detergent.
  • Rinse water recovered and reused rather than discharged after a single cycle.
  • Stained items are re-treated before they are retired — most recover.
