What goes wrong

Three things that cost Brasted cafes a supplier

Cafes in Brasted rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of mornings that started badly.

  • Deliveries that land after opening

A cafe opens earlier than almost anything else on the street. A drop timed for mid-morning is a drop that missed the shift it was for, and in Brasted that means serving the first hours on yesterday's cloths.

  • Cloths that come back grey

Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup are not the same soil as food service. Washed on a general cycle they build up, whites go dull within weeks, and the counter is where it shows.

  • Running short on the busy day

Par counts set on a quiet Tuesday leave you short on Saturday. Most Brasted cafes are not short of linen overall — they are short of it twice a week.

How it works

Four steps to a Brasted cafe on the round

Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the count and the timing right and the service stops being something you manage.

Serving TN16 Since 2009
  1. The count

We look at a real week in Brasted: how many aprons a shift gets through, what is still in the wash when you open, and which two days you run short.

    Half an hour, on site

  2. The round

TN16 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before opening rather than during it.

    TN16 · 7 days

  3. The switch

You are never between suppliers. The first delivery arrives before the last collection of the old agreement.

    No gap in service

  4. The account

A named account manager who knows your site and the TN16 round — not a ticket number and a call centre.

    One name, not a queue

Running more than one site around Sevenoaks? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.

How it is processed

Nothing from Brasted leaves our own plants

There are two buildings between your linen and ours, and we own both. Brasted collections run 25.9 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.

Cafe soil is its own problem. Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup need a different wash to food-service linen, so aprons and cloths run on their own classification rather than whatever the machine was doing before.

Changing supplier is not the risk Brasted operators think

Most Brasted cafes stay with a supplier they have stopped rating, because changing one feels like a risk on the one morning you cannot afford it. It is not.

  1. Before you commit

We count a real week, not an average one

Saturday out, Monday back, and the gap in between. That gap is where every shortage on the account comes from.

  2. The handover

Stock lands before the old supplier stops

The two contracts overlap on purpose. Brasted gets its first delivery while the old supplier is still collecting, so there is no morning in between.

  3. After

Par counts adjust once we have seen a month

Any first count is a guess. The difference is whether anyone comes back and corrects it — after four weeks, we do.

Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.

About Brasted

Why Brasted is collected the way it is

A historic village famous for its antique shops and beautifully preserved stone architecture. Unique to Brasted.

Brasted is collected 7 days on a shared round, so a single-site cafe here costs a stop rather than a journey.

Brasted questions, answered

Which round covers Brasted?

Yes — Brasted sits on the TN16 round, 7 days, 25.9 miles from our Wembley plant.

  • Shared with Westerham, Tatsfield and Sevenoaks — the same vehicle covers them, which is why a counter here can be added without moving anyone else.
  • Collections here run to scheduled days, agreed when the account opens, because Brasted is only 25.9 miles out.
We run short on Saturdays — what then?

Tell your account manager and collections here run to scheduled days, agreed when the account opens.

  • If it happens twice, the par count is wrong — a second shortage is a counting error, and we correct it.
  • Most Brasted cafes are not short of linen overall — they are short of it on two predictable days, which is a counting problem rather than a volume one.
  • Seasonal swings are planned in — Brasted in December is not Brasted in February, and the par count should know that.
We have a small kitchen — same round?

No. Kitchen cloths and table linen go on the same TN16 collection and the same invoice.

  • No second supplier and no second delivery day — one account covers both sides of the counter.
  • Chef whites, oven cloths and table linen — added as lines, not as a new agreement.
  • 1 restaurants around TN16 are on this round too — so the food side is not an afterthought here.
When does the TN16 round reach Brasted?

Before you open, because that is how the TN16 round is ordered. Cafes open earlier than almost anything else we serve.

  • The time is agreed when the account opens — not left to whenever the van happens to reach Brasted.
  • A mid-morning drop missed the shift it was for. We schedule against your opening time, not ours.
  • If a drop is missed, collections here run to scheduled days, agreed when the account opens.
Why do our whites go grey?

Because cafe soil is chemically different from kitchen soil. On a general cycle they build up and whites dull within weeks.

  • Cafe cloths and aprons run on their own classification — rather than whatever the machine was doing before.
  • Milk protein needs the right temperature, not just a hotter one — past a point, heat bonds the protein to the cloth.
  • Grey whites are usually a wash problem, not an age problem — replacement rate is the clearest signal the classification is off.
Is there a minimum term?

No long-term tie-in and no exit fee.

  • Terms flex with seasonal demand — rather than locking you into a winter volume you do not use in August.
  • Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — we will count your week while you are still under someone else.
  • Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — you are never between suppliers.
Are we too small an account in Brasted?

No minimum, on any line. Most of what we collect in TN16 is exactly that size.

  • Small sites go on the same TN16 round — so you are not paying for a dedicated trip into Brasted.
  • 2 cafes around TN16 are already on it — so the round is built for counters, not bolted on to a hotel run.
  • Volume changes are expected — we adjust rather than hold you to a winter figure.
Is apron hire available to Brasted cafes?

Both, and mixed accounts are normal. Plenty of Brasted accounts run half and half.

  • Hire — we own the stock, replace it as it wears and keep the par count topped up.
  • Wash-only — your own branded aprons come back to you, the same items, not pooled.
  • Plenty of cafes do both — hire what nobody sees, keep your own name on what the customer does.

Rewashing Brasted linen is the real environmental cost

Most of the environmental cost of cafe linen is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.

  • The TN16 round is a shared journey rather than a separate trip to Brasted.
  • Cafe cloths washed on their own classification last longer before replacement.
  • Hire stock is mended and rotated through its full life rather than discarded early.
