What goes wrong
The Clayhall morning goes wrong before the first coffee
Cafes in Clayhall rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of mornings that started badly.
-
Deliveries that land after opening
A cafe opens earlier than almost anything else on the street. A drop timed for mid-morning is a drop that missed the shift it was for, and in Clayhall that means serving the first hours on yesterday's cloths.
-
Cloths that come back grey
Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup are not the same soil as food service. Washed on a general cycle they build up, whites go dull within weeks, and the counter is where it shows.
-
Running short on the busy day
Par counts set on a quiet Tuesday leave you short on Saturday. Most Clayhall cafes are not short of linen overall — they are short of it twice a week.
How it works
Four steps, and Clayhall stops managing linen
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the count and the timing right and the service stops being something you manage.
-
The count
We count what Clayhall actually uses across a full week — not an average week, because the average is exactly the number that leaves you short on a Saturday.
Half an hour, on site
-
The round
The van is already in IG5. Joining that round is what keeps a single-site cafe priced as a stop rather than a journey.
IG5 · 7 days
-
The switch
You are never between suppliers. The first delivery arrives before the last collection of the old agreement.
No gap in service
-
The account
A named account manager who knows your site and the IG5 round — not a ticket number and a call centre.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one site around Redbridge? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
Nothing from Clayhall leaves our own plants
There are two buildings between your linen and ours, and we own both. Clayhall collections run 15.2 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
Cafe work is classified separately here. Milk protein sets if it is washed too hot and builds up if it is washed too cool, so Clayhall cloths run on a cycle chosen for them rather than inherited from the previous load.

Switching supplier in Clayhall without missing an opening
Most Clayhall cafes stay with a supplier they have stopped rating, because changing one feels like a risk on the one morning you cannot afford it. It is not.
- Before you commit
We count a real week, not an average one
Half an hour on site: what goes out on a Saturday, what is still in the wash on Monday, and where you run short.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
The two contracts overlap on purpose. Clayhall gets its first delivery while the old supplier is still collecting, so there is no morning in between.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
First counts are an estimate. After four weeks we set them against what you actually used.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

Running a high-end spa means going through hundreds of bathrobes and spa towels daily. Our rotation stays fully stocked with exceptionally soft, hygienically pristine textiles. Guest comfort has noticeably improved since we switched.
Siobhan O'Connor Spa Operations Director · Luxury health club & spa -
Our members expect fresh sweat towels immediately after back-to-back spinning classes. They handle our daily volume seamlessly, and I would single out the punctuality and the clean, long-lasting scent of the eco-friendly detergents.

In clinical and aesthetic practice, hygiene standards have to meet rigorous compliance. High-temperature sanitised gowns, drapes and bed covers arrive reliably every week. I trust their quality control completely.

For high-end short-stay apartments, guest reviews live and die by linen quality. We get hotel-grade crispness that consistently earns us five-star cleanliness ratings, and the communication lines are short when something needs resolving.

Local knowledge
Why Clayhall is collected the way it is
A quiet, upscale residential suburb known for its high-end family homes and beautiful parkland. Unique to Clayhall.
What makes Clayhall its own job is how early it starts. The round is planned so the aprons are on the shelf before the first coffee, not halfway through the morning.

Asked most often about Clayhall cafe linen
Is Clayhall on a collection round?
Yes — Clayhall sits on the IG5 round, 7 days, 15.2 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Fullwell Cross, Gants Hill and Woodford Bridge — one van, one run, which is what keeps a single-site account sensible to price.
- A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, because Clayhall is only 15.2 miles out.
Is there a minimum order for a Clayhall cafe?
No minimum, on any line. A single-site independent cafe in Clayhall is an ordinary account for us.
- Small sites go on the same IG5 round — which is why size barely moves the per-item price.
- 9 cafes around IG5 are already on it — so the round is built for counters, not bolted on to a hotel run.
- Volume changes are expected — we adjust rather than hold you to a winter figure.
Can we keep our own branded aprons in Clayhall?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. One collection covers whichever way each line is set up.
- Hire — we own the stock, replace it as it wears and keep the par count topped up.
- Wash-only — your own branded aprons come back to you, the same items, not pooled.
- Plenty of cafes do both — hired glass cloths and tea towels, own-branded aprons on wash-only.
How quickly can you top us up in Clayhall?
Tell your account manager and a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.
- If it happens twice, the par count is wrong — a second shortage is a counting error, and we correct it.
- Most Clayhall cafes are not short of linen overall — the weekly total is fine; the weekend distribution is not.
- Seasonal swings are planned in — we set them ahead rather than react.
Is the food side priced separately?
No. Kitchen cloths and table linen go on the same IG5 collection and the same invoice.
- No second supplier and no second delivery day — because the menu grew.
- Chef whites, oven cloths and table linen — priced per item on the account you already have.
- 14 restaurants around IG5 are on this round too — so the food side is not an afterthought here.
Is the Clayhall delivery before or after opening?
That is the point of putting Clayhall on the IG5 round rather than a separate trip. Cafes open earlier than almost anything else we serve.
- The time is agreed when the account opens — not left to whenever the van happens to reach Clayhall.
- A mid-morning drop missed the shift it was for. We schedule against your opening time, not ours.
- If a drop is missed, a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.
Is there a reason our Clayhall whites do not stay white?
Because cafe soil is chemically different from kitchen soil. Run on the wrong programme they accumulate rather than lift.
- Cafe cloths and aprons run on their own classification — not as the tail end of a kitchen load.
- Milk protein needs the right temperature, not just a hotter one — overheating fixes the stain instead of lifting it.
- Grey whites are usually a wash problem, not an age problem — replacement rate is the clearest signal the classification is off.
Are we tied into a long contract?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — Clayhall in February and Clayhall in July are different businesses, and the account should say so.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — there is no cost to finding out what it would look like.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — the two overlap by design.
Something specific to your Clayhall cafe?
Ask us directlyThe greenest wash is the one Clayhall does not repeat
Most of the environmental cost of cafe linen is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- Clayhall is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one site.
- Cloths that keep their colour get replaced on wear, not on appearance.
- Hire stock is repaired and rotated rather than binned at the first mark.
