What goes wrong
Three things that cost Leigh clubs a supplier
Almost nobody around RH2 changes towel supplier to save money. They change because the same thing went wrong three weeks running.
-
Running out at the evening peak
Between five and seven the rack empties faster than the rest of the day combined. An average hides that completely, which is why average-based counts fail at peak.
-
Towels that come back smelling
Sweat and body oil build up in the fibre and a general wash does not shift them. The towel smells clean cold, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.
-
Stock that never quite balances
Towels walk. Every Leigh club loses some, and an account that does not plan for shrinkage turns into a monthly argument about counts.
How it works
Getting a Leigh club onto the round
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.
-
The count
We count against your peak rather than your average — a Monday evening and a Sunday morning in Leigh are different businesses, and the par level has to survive both.
An hour, at peak
-
The round
RH2 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before the evening rush rather than during it.

The switch
The changeover in Leigh overlaps by design — new stock lands while the old contract is still running.
No gap in service
-
The account
A named account manager who knows your site and the RH2 round — January volume and seasonal changes go through one person, not a form.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one club around Mole Valley? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
Leigh towels are not subcontracted
There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Leigh collections run 23.9 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
What comes off a Leigh gym floor is not what comes off a hotel bed. Body oil needs its own temperature and no softener, so towelling is classified separately rather than run at the tail of a linen load.

Switching supplier in Leigh without an empty rack
Most Leigh clubs stay with a supplier they have stopped rating, because changing one feels like a risk in the week membership is highest. It is not.
- Before you commit
We count your peak, not your average
An hour on site at the time it actually matters. Towel demand stacks into two hours, and an average hides exactly that.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Leigh evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
First counts are an estimate. After four weeks we set them against what you actually used, including what walked out of the door.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

Back-to-back conferences and galas mean huge quantities of table skirts, stage linens and catering napkins at short notice. They have never missed a deadline on any of it.
Danielle Moreau Events Logistics Manager · Corporate event venue -
Grooming generates heavy, fur-filled towels and specialist bedding that a standard machine cannot handle. Everything is collected and returned allergen-free, fluffy and sterilised. Top marks for taking on the difficult jobs.

Running a high-end spa means going through hundreds of bathrobes and spa towels daily. Our rotation stays fully stocked with exceptionally soft, hygienically pristine textiles. Guest comfort has noticeably improved since we switched.

Our members expect fresh sweat towels immediately after back-to-back spinning classes. They handle our daily volume seamlessly, and I would single out the punctuality and the clean, long-lasting scent of the eco-friendly detergents.

Local knowledge
Why Leigh is collected the way it is
A traditional Surrey village centered around its historic green and medieval church. Unique to Leigh.
What makes Leigh its own job is when the demand lands. Towel volume stacks into two hours, so the round is timed against that rather than against the distance.

Leigh questions, answered
Can you reach Leigh 7 days?
Yes — Leigh sits on the RH2 round, 7 days, 23.9 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Betchworth, Buckland and Brockham — one van, one run, which is what keeps a single studio sensible to price.
- A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, which is what 23.9 miles buys you.
- Multi-site operators run on staggered days, so no club is left short while another is being collected from.
Are we tied into a long contract?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. Nothing in the agreement is designed to make leaving awkward.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — you are not held to a peak figure through a quiet quarter.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — the count and the quote commit you to nothing.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — you are never between suppliers.
- If it is not working, say so — the fix is usually a number on the sheet rather than a new contract.
Why do towels smell clean but go damp-smelling later?
It is oil left in the fibre, not the towel being old. The towel smells fine cold and dry, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.
- Gym towelling runs on its own classification — not as the tail end of a bed linen load.
- Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — one general cycle addresses neither properly.
- Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — that is a wash problem, not a replacement problem.
- Every load is temperature logged — so there is a record behind the classification rather than an assurance.
How do you handle shrinkage?
Shrinkage is normal and predictable. We plan for it rather than dispute it.
- Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — so the rack does not empty because the maths assumed nothing walked.
- You get the actual numbers each cycle — in and out, per collection, so the figure is checkable.
- A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — it usually means a change on the floor rather than a laundry problem.
- On hire, fair wear is our cost — not a charge back to you.
Is there a price list for towel hire?
Priced on your peak and your member numbers, not off a rate card. Two clubs with the same membership can differ twofold in towel usage depending on the floor.
- We count a real week in Leigh before quoting — the invoice records what you were sold, not what you used.
- The count includes January — a Leigh club quoted off an August week runs short in the month that matters.
- No minimum order — so a boutique studio is an ordinary account and is priced per item like any other.
- The count and the quote cost nothing — including while you are still under contract elsewhere.
How is the par count set for a Leigh club?
The par count is set on your busiest two hours, not on an average day. A Leigh floor gets through more between five and seven than across the rest of the day combined.
- We count on site at the time it matters — an hour on the Leigh floor at peak tells us more than a year of delivery notes.
- A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — and a single number that averages them fails on the busier one.
- January is planned in — a Leigh club in January is not the same club in August, and the account should say so.
- If you run short twice, the count is wrong — a second shortage is a counting error, not bad luck.
What is the difference between hire and wash-only in RH2?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. Plenty of Leigh clubs run half and half.
- Hire — the rack is maintained for you, including the towels that fail first.
- Wash-only — item for item, never substituted.
- Most clubs split it — the logo matters on a robe, rarely on a sweat towel.
- You can move a line between the two later — it is a change to the sheet, not a new agreement.
Can wet-area mats go on the same collection?
Yes — a gym floor and a spa want opposite things from a towel. The gym side is judged on whether the rack is full; the spa side on how the robe feels.
- Robes are laundered to keep their handle — a robe that feels like a gym towel has been washed like one.
- Bath mats run on a heavier classification — because wet-area linen takes a different kind of soil.
- One collection, one invoice — even where the two sides of the building want different specs.
- Hotel spas are a normal account — the bed linen side can go on the same round.
Something specific to your Leigh club?
Ask us directlyRewashing Leigh linen is the real environmental cost
Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- One vehicle covers RH2, so adding Leigh adds a stop rather than a journey.
- Towelling washed without softener keeps absorbing, so it is replaced on wear rather than on feel.
- A greying towel moves to the back of the rotation rather than into a skip.
