What goes wrong
Three things that cost Speen clubs a supplier
Clubs in Speen rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.
-
Running out at the evening peak
Between five and seven the rack empties faster than the rest of the day combined. An average hides that completely, which is why average-based counts fail at peak.
-
Towels that come back smelling
A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use. Oil left in the fibre only announces itself once the towel warms up, which is after it has reached a member.
-
Stock that never quite balances
Towels walk. Every Speen club loses some, and an account that does not plan for shrinkage turns into a monthly argument about counts.
How it works
Four steps to a Speen club on the round
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.
-
The count
An hour on the Speen floor at the time it actually matters. The number that matters is the five-to-seven number, not the daily one.
An hour, at peak
-
The round
HP27 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before the evening rush rather than during it.

The switch
You are never between suppliers, and no evening is covered by rationing towels.
No gap in service
-
The account
A named account manager who knows your site and the HP27 round — January volume and seasonal changes go through one person, not a form.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one club around Buckinghamshire? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
Nothing from Speen leaves our own plants
There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Speen collections run 23.1 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
Softener is the usual culprit behind a towel that stops absorbing: it coats the fibre. Gym stock runs without it, which is why ours keeps drying rather than smearing.

Switching supplier in Speen without an empty rack
The reason Speen operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to gamble on towels. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.
- Before you commit
We count your peak, not your average
An hour on site at the time it actually matters. Towel demand stacks into two hours, and an average hides exactly that.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Speen evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
Month one is a measurement. From month two the par count reflects your real peak and your real shrinkage rather than an opening guess.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

Our membership expects discretion and immaculate standards. Dining room linens and guest suites are laundered to a bespoke standard, and the discretion around our account has been absolute.

Running a high-end spa means going through hundreds of bathrobes and spa towels daily. Our rotation stays fully stocked with exceptionally soft, hygienically pristine textiles. Guest comfort has noticeably improved since we switched.
Siobhan O'Connor Spa Operations Director · Luxury health club & spa -
Our members expect fresh sweat towels immediately after back-to-back spinning classes. They handle our daily volume seamlessly, and I would single out the punctuality and the clean, long-lasting scent of the eco-friendly detergents.
Marcus Thorne Studio Manager · Boutique fitness studio -
We rely on clean bolster covers, fleece blankets and eye pillows. Delicate fabrics are treated with care while still getting a deep, hypoallergenic sanitisation, and everything comes back beautifully presented.

LP Laundry has been an absolute game-changer for our 45-room boutique hotel. Turnaround on our bed linens and heavy plush towels is inside 24 hours without a single delay. We could not be happier with the crisp, immaculate finish.
Charlotte Vance Front of House & Accommodation Manager · 45-room boutique hotel -
For high-end short-stay apartments, guest reviews live and die by linen quality. We get hotel-grade crispness that consistently earns us five-star cleanliness ratings, and the communication lines are short when something needs resolving.

Table presentation is everything in Mayfair. They handle our heavy cotton damask tablecloths and chef whites with real precision — stains vanish and the starch finish is always spot on. The daily collection has never let us down.

About Speen
Speen, specifically
An exclusive and picturesque hilltop village offering some of the best views in the county. Unique to Speen.
What makes Speen its own job is when the demand lands. Towel volume stacks into two hours, so the round is timed against that rather than against the distance.

Gym & spa towels in Speen — what operators ask
Can you reach Speen 7 days?
Yes — Speen sits on the HP27 round, 7 days, 23.1 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Lacey Green, Loosley Row and Walter Ash — one van, one run, which is what keeps a single studio sensible to price.
- A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, because of that distance.
- Multi-site operators run on staggered days, so no club is left short while another is being collected from.
Why do towels smell clean but go damp-smelling later?
Because the wash was wrong, not because the towel is finished. A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use, because oil only announces itself once the towel warms up.
- Gym towelling runs on its own classification — Speen towels are classified for the soil they actually carry.
- Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — softener is the usual culprit: it smells pleasant and stops the towel drying anything.
- Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — that is a wash problem, not a replacement problem.
- Every load is temperature logged — so there is a record behind the classification rather than an assurance.
How do you handle shrinkage?
Shrinkage is normal and predictable. We plan for it rather than dispute it.
- Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — which is the difference between a working count and an optimistic one.
- You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
- A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — a step change in shrinkage is information, not an invoice line.
- On hire, fair wear is our cost — not a charge back to you.
Is there a price list for towel hire?
Priced on your peak and your member numbers, not off a rate card. Towel volume depends on member numbers and how hard the floor turns over, so a published list would be wrong for most clubs.
- We count a real week in Speen before quoting — rather than pricing off your last invoice.
- The count includes January — peak months are the ones the par count has to survive.
- No minimum order — so a boutique studio is an ordinary account and is priced per item like any other.
- The count and the quote cost nothing — there is no cost to finding out what it would look like.
How is the par count set for a Speen club?
The par count is set on your busiest two hours, not on an average day. Every other hour looks fine on any count, which is why averages keep passing and racks keep emptying.
- We count on site at the time it matters — the invoice records what you were sold, not what the rack needed.
- A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — which is why the count is taken twice rather than once.
- January is planned in — a Speen club in January is not the same club in August, and the account should say so.
- If you run short twice, the count is wrong — we reset it against real usage rather than the opening estimate.
What is the difference between hire and wash-only in HP27?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. One collection covers whichever way each line is set up.
- Hire — the rack is maintained for you, including the towels that fail first.
- Wash-only — your own branded stock comes back to you, the same items, not pooled.
- Most clubs split it — hired gym towels where nobody reads a label, own-branded robes in the spa where the branding is the point.
- You can move a line between the two later — it is a change to the sheet, not a new agreement.
Can wet-area mats go on the same collection?
Yes. One collection, two specifications. A gym floor wants volume and absorbency; a spa wants handle and appearance.
- Robes are laundered to keep their handle — a robe that feels like a gym towel has been washed like one.
- Bath mats run on a heavier classification — and they are counted separately for the same reason.
- One collection, one invoice — the split is in the classification, not in the account.
- Hotel spas are a normal account — with one account manager across both.
Are we tied into a long contract?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. We would rather keep you on the service than on the paperwork.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — rather than holding you to a January volume through a quiet August.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — there is no cost to finding out.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — you are never between suppliers.
- If it is not working, say so — we would rather correct the account than lose it.
Something specific to your Speen club?
Ask us directlyThe cheapest wash for Speen is the second one you avoid
Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- Speen is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one club.
- Keeping the fibre clear is what stops stock being replaced before its time.
- A greying towel moves to the back of the rotation rather than into a skip.
