What goes wrong
The Downside morning goes wrong before the first coffee
Cafes in Downside rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of mornings that started badly.
-
Deliveries that land after opening
A cafe opens earlier than almost anything else on the street. A drop timed for mid-morning is a drop that missed the shift it was for, and in Downside that means serving the first hours on yesterday's cloths.
-
Cloths that come back grey
Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup are not the same soil as food service. Washed on a general cycle they build up, whites go dull within weeks, and the counter is where it shows.
-
Running short on the busy day
Par counts set on a quiet Tuesday leave you short on Saturday. Most Downside cafes are not short of linen overall — they are short of it twice a week.
How it works
Four steps to a Downside cafe on the round
Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the count and the timing right and the service stops being something you manage.
-
The count
We look at a real week in Downside: how many aprons a shift gets through, what is still in the wash when you open, and which two days you run short.
Half an hour, on site
-
The round
KT11 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before opening rather than during it.
KT11 · 7 days
-
The switch
You are never between suppliers. The first delivery arrives before the last collection of the old agreement.
No gap in service
-
The account
One name, who has seen your counter and knows the KT11 driver. Problems get solved on a call rather than logged.
One name, not a queue
Running more than one site around Elmbridge? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.
How it is processed
Nothing from Downside leaves our own plants
There are two buildings between your linen and ours, and we own both. Downside collections run 17.9 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
Cafe soil is its own problem. Coffee oil, milk protein and syrup need a different wash to food-service linen, so aprons and cloths run on their own classification rather than whatever the machine was doing before.

Changing supplier is not the risk Downside operators think
Nobody in Downside changes linen supplier on a whim. The question is only whether the switch can happen without a single bad opening — and it can.
- Before you commit
We count a real week, not an average one
Half an hour on site: what goes out on a Saturday, what is still in the wash on Monday, and where you run short.
- The handover
Stock lands before the old supplier stops
Nothing is stood down until the replacement is physically on your shelf.
- After
Par counts adjust once we have seen a month
Month one is a measurement. From month two the Downside par count reflects your real weekend rather than our opening guess.
Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.
The week you switch is the week nobody notices.

LP Laundry has been an absolute game-changer for our 45-room boutique hotel. Turnaround on our bed linens and heavy plush towels is inside 24 hours without a single delay. We could not be happier with the crisp, immaculate finish.
Charlotte Vance Front of House & Accommodation Manager · 45-room boutique hotel -
Running a high-end spa means going through hundreds of bathrobes and spa towels daily. Our rotation stays fully stocked with exceptionally soft, hygienically pristine textiles. Guest comfort has noticeably improved since we switched.
Siobhan O'Connor Spa Operations Director · Luxury health club & spa -
Our members expect fresh sweat towels immediately after back-to-back spinning classes. They handle our daily volume seamlessly, and I would single out the punctuality and the clean, long-lasting scent of the eco-friendly detergents.

In clinical and aesthetic practice, hygiene standards have to meet rigorous compliance. High-temperature sanitised gowns, drapes and bed covers arrive reliably every week. I trust their quality control completely.

For high-end short-stay apartments, guest reviews live and die by linen quality. We get hotel-grade crispness that consistently earns us five-star cleanliness ratings, and the communication lines are short when something needs resolving.

We use dozens of salon towels and client gowns every day. Stubborn hair dye and product stains come out effortlessly and our capes still look new. They are an indispensable part of the daily flow here.

Local knowledge
Downside, specifically
A peaceful residential pocket centered around its green, offering elite village seclusion. Unique to Downside.
Cafes here sit on the KT11 round, and the constraint is the clock rather than the distance — Downside opens before most of what we serve, so the drop is timed against opening.

Asked most often about Downside cafe linen
Do you cover Downside?
Yes — Downside sits on the KT11 round, 7 days, 17.9 miles from our Wembley plant.
- Shared with Stoke D Abernon, Cobham and Oxshott — adding you changes the schedule, not the route.
- The driver knows the streets around Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon — the same crew runs it weekly, so nobody is reading a map on your doorstep.
- A missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week, which is what 17.9 miles buys you.
What makes cafe cloths go grey?
Because cafe soil is chemically different from kitchen soil. A cycle built for table linen leaves them behind.
- Cafe cloths and aprons run on their own classification — the programme is chosen for them, not inherited.
- Milk protein needs the right temperature, not just a hotter one — overheating fixes the stain instead of lifting it.
- Grey whites are usually a wash problem, not an age problem — a Downside cafe buying aprons three times a year is paying for a bad cycle, not for wear.
Do you lock KT11 accounts into a term?
No long-term tie-in and no exit fee.
- Terms flex with seasonal demand — Downside in February and Downside in July are different businesses, and the account should say so.
- Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — the count and the quote commit you to nothing.
- Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — the two overlap by design.
Is a one-site Downside cafe worth your while?
No minimum, on any line. Most of what we collect in KT11 is exactly that size.
- Small sites go on the same KT11 round — so you are not paying for a dedicated trip into Downside.
- 3 cafes around KT11 are already on it — the vehicle is sized for this kind of work rather than adapted to it.
- Volume changes are expected — the account flexes rather than holding you to a floor.
Do you hire aprons, or only launder ours in Downside?
Both, and mixed accounts are normal. The two sit on one invoice and one round.
- Hire — the count is maintained for you, including the items that wear out first.
- Wash-only — your own branded aprons come back to you, the same items, not pooled.
- Plenty of cafes do both — hire what nobody sees, keep your own name on what the customer does.
What happens if we run out mid-service?
Tell your account manager and a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.
- If it happens twice, the par count is wrong — we reset it against what you actually used, not what was estimated at setup.
- Most Downside cafes are not short of linen overall — the shortage has a shape, and the shape is Saturday.
- Seasonal swings are planned in — Downside in December is not Downside in February, and the par count should know that.
Does a Downside kitchen go on the same collection?
No. Kitchen cloths and table linen go on the same KT11 collection and the same invoice.
- No second supplier and no second delivery day — one account covers both sides of the counter.
- Chef whites, oven cloths and table linen — priced per item on the account you already have.
- 3 restaurants around KT11 are on this round too — so the food side is not an afterthought here.
How early can you drop in Downside?
That is the point of putting Downside on the KT11 round rather than a separate trip. Cafes open earlier than almost anything else we serve.
- The time is agreed when the account opens — not left to whenever the van happens to reach Downside.
- Timed around Cobham & Stoke d'Abernon so the van is not arriving into the worst of it.
- If a drop is missed, a missed window here is picked up on the next round rather than the next week.
Something specific to your Downside cafe?
Ask us directlyThe cheapest wash for Downside is the second one you avoid
Most of the environmental cost of cafe linen is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.
- Downside is a stop on a round that was already running, not a van dispatched for one site.
- Washing cafe soil on the right cycle is what stops stock being replaced every few months.
- Hire stock is mended and rotated through its full life rather than discarded early.
