What goes wrong

An empty rack at six is the Fingest complaint you hear about

Clubs in Fingest rarely leave a supplier over price. They leave after a run of evenings where the rack was empty at peak, or a batch came back smelling of damp.

  • Running out at the evening peak

Between five and seven the rack empties faster than the rest of the day combined. An average hides that completely, which is why average-based counts fail at peak.

  • Towels that come back smelling

A towel can pass inspection dry and fail it in use. Oil left in the fibre only announces itself once the towel warms up, which is after it has reached a member.

  • Stock that never quite balances

Loss is normal and predictable. Pretending otherwise is what turns a towel account into a reconciliation exercise nobody wins.

How it works

Four steps to a Fingest club on the round

Most of the work happens before the first collection. Get the peak-hour count right and the towel rack stops being something the duty manager thinks about.

Serving RG9 Since 2009
  1. The count

We count against your peak rather than your average — a Monday evening and a Sunday morning in Fingest are different businesses, and the par level has to survive both.

    An hour, at peak

  2. The round

RG9 already has a collection day. We fit you to it and agree a time that lands before the evening rush rather than during it.

    RG9 · 7 days

  3. The switch

Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down, so there is never an evening with an empty rack.

    No gap in service

  4. The account

The same person handles Fingest every week, which is why a change to your par count does not need explaining twice.

    One name, not a queue

Running more than one club around Buckinghamshire? The same account manager covers all of them, on staggered days so no site is left short.

How it is processed

Your Fingest stock, washed by us and nobody else

There are two buildings between your towels and ours, and we own both. Fingest collections run 25.5 miles to our Wembley plant. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.

Softener is the usual culprit behind a towel that stops absorbing: it coats the fibre. Gym stock runs without it, which is why ours keeps drying rather than smearing.

Switching supplier in Fingest without an empty rack

The reason Fingest operators put up with a supplier they have stopped rating is timing: there is no good week to gamble on towels. That is a scheduling problem, not a reason to stay.

  1. Before you commit

We count your peak, not your average

We count the Fingest floor between five and seven rather than take a number off your last invoice — the invoice records what you were sold, not what the rack needed.

  2. The handover

Stock lands before the old supplier stops

The two contracts overlap on purpose, so no Fingest evening is covered by rationing what is left on the rack.

  3. After

Par counts adjust once we have seen a month

Month one is a measurement. From month two the par count reflects your real peak and your real shrinkage rather than an opening guess.

Nothing here needs you to be out of contract first — the count and the quote cost nothing.

Local knowledge

Fingest, specifically

A peaceful and affluent rural enclave famous for its unique twin-towered Norman church. Unique to Fingest.

What makes Fingest its own job is when the demand lands. Towel volume stacks into two hours, so the round is timed against that rather than against the distance.

Fingest questions, answered

Which round covers Fingest?

Yes — Fingest sits on the RG9 round, 7 days, 25.5 miles from our Wembley plant.

  • Shared with Turville, Lane End and Hambleden — one van, one run, which is what keeps a single studio sensible to price.
  • Collections here run to scheduled days, agreed when the account opens, because Fingest is only 25.5 miles out.
  • Multi-site operators run on staggered days, so no club is left short while another is being collected from.
Do you do treatment room linen too?

Yes, and they are genuinely different jobs on the same account. The gym side is judged on whether the rack is full; the spa side on how the robe feels.

  • Robes are laundered to keep their handle — softness is the point on a robe, and it is achieved by the wash rather than by softener.
  • Bath mats run on a heavier classification — and they are counted separately for the same reason.
  • One collection, one invoice — no second supplier for the spa side.
  • Hotel spas are a normal account — with one account manager across both.
What is the commitment for an Fingest account?

No long-term tie-in and no exit fee. Nothing in the agreement is designed to make leaving awkward.

  • Terms flex with seasonal demand — rather than holding you to a January volume through a quiet August.
  • Nothing needs you to be out of your current contract first — the count and the quote commit you to nothing.
  • Stock arrives before the old supplier is stood down — the two overlap by design.
  • If it is not working, say so — we would rather correct the account than lose it.
Why do our towels stop absorbing?

Because sweat and body oil build up in the fibre and a general wash does not shift them. The towel smells fine cold and dry, then smells again once it is warm and damp — which a member notices before you do.

  • Gym towelling runs on its own classification — not as the tail end of a bed linen load.
  • Oil needs a different temperature from sweat — and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, which is why we do not use it on gym stock.
  • Towels that stop absorbing are usually over-softened, not worn out — and the fix costs nothing but a change of classification.
  • Every load is temperature logged — so there is a record behind the classification rather than an assurance.
How is stock reconciled on a Fingest account?

Towels walk. The question is whether the account expects it.

  • Expected loss is built into the par count at setup — so the rack does not empty because the maths assumed nothing walked.
  • You get the actual numbers each cycle — not a statement that only makes sense to us.
  • A sudden jump in loss is worth knowing about — and we would rather flag it than absorb it quietly.
  • On hire, fair wear is our cost — greying and thinning are ours to replace.
What does a towel account cost in Fingest?

Priced on your peak and your member numbers, not off a rate card. The number follows turnover, not floor area.

  • We count a real week in Fingest before quoting — rather than pricing off your last invoice.
  • The count includes January — peak months are the ones the par count has to survive.
  • No minimum order — size barely moves the per-item price.
  • The count and the quote cost nothing — including while you are still under contract elsewhere.
How do you stop us running out at peak?

By counting against your peak rather than your daily average. Every other hour looks fine on any count, which is why averages keep passing and racks keep emptying.

  • We count on site at the time it matters — not from a figure on your last invoice.
  • A Monday evening and a Sunday morning are different businesses — the par level has to survive both, so it is set against the worse of the two.
  • January is planned in — new-year membership is the most predictable spike in the trade and should never be handled as an emergency.
  • If you run short twice, the count is wrong — a second shortage is a counting error, not bad luck.
Can we keep our own branded stock in Fingest?

Both, and mixed accounts are normal. Plenty of Fingest clubs run half and half.

  • Hire — stock, replacement and shrinkage planning are ours; you never reorder.
  • Wash-only — your own branded stock comes back to you, the same items, not pooled.
  • Most clubs split it — hire what nobody looks at, keep your own name on what a member wears.
  • You can move a line between the two later — without reopening the account.

The cheapest wash for Fingest is the second one you avoid

Most of the environmental cost of gym towelling is rewashing and replacing it. Getting the classification right the first time does more than any claim on a van.

  • One vehicle covers RG9, so adding Fingest adds a stop rather than a journey.
  • Towelling washed without softener keeps absorbing, so it is replaced on wear rather than on feel.
  • A greying towel moves to the back of the rotation rather than into a skip.
