What goes wrong
Weddings — where it usually goes wrong
An event is one dated job with no next round. These are the three things that go wrong on a wedding specifically, rather than on events in general.
-
The tables nobody counts
A headcount covers the guest tables. It misses the top table, the cake table, the registrar table and the gift table — and those are the four in every photograph.
-
Colour that shifts between suppliers
Ivory from one supplier is not ivory from another. Order the cloths, napkins and sashes separately and they rarely match on the day.
-
Creases at the fold line
There is no time to press 120 cloths on a wedding morning, and the fold crease runs down the centre of every table exactly where the camera looks.
How it works
Four steps to a dressed wedding
Almost all of the work happens before the date. These four are the ones that decide whether a wedding goes smoothly.
-
The table plan
A wedding has three settings in a day — ceremony, breakfast, evening — and the plan tells us which tables carry through and which get reset.
Sent by you or the venue
-
The palette
Ivory is not one colour across the trade. We match cloths, napkins and sashes to a sample you have actually seen rather than to a name.
Matched to a physical sample
-
The morning delivery
Weddings have a queue of suppliers on the morning. We land in the slot that lets the venue dress tables before flowers go on.
Before the florist, after the setup
-
The next-day collection
Nobody should be counting napkins at midnight. Collection is booked for the following day where the venue allows it.
After you have gone
Planning several dates? A venue or planner account keeps one contact and one set of specs across all of them.
How it is processed
Weddings linen is finished, not just washed
There are two buildings between your linen and ours, and we own both: a production plant in Wembley and our Harrow site. Nothing is passed to a third party in between.
Wedding linen is pressed and hung or rolled, never folded flat, because the crease runs down the centre of the table and there is no morning window to press it out. Chair covers travel on hangers for the same reason.

What a wedding actually needs dressing
The linen is the same quality whichever event you are running. What changes is which parts of the room carry the weight — on a wedding, these three.
- Ceremony
Chair covers and aisle dressing
Ceremony chairs are usually the venue’s worst, and covers are the cheapest thing that fixes a room in photographs.
- Wedding breakfast
The setting that gets photographed
Cloths sized to the drop, napkins folded to a style you chose, and the top table treated as its own table rather than a longer version of the rounds.
- Evening reception
A reset, not a second order
Where the room turns round for the evening, the reset is planned into the same order rather than quoted as a second event.
Nothing here needs a long-term agreement — a single date is a normal booking.
The date is the deadline. Everything else works backwards from it.
Other events we dress
Running something else as well?
The linen and the finish are the same across all of these. What changes is the table plan, the sizes and the delivery window.
ConferencesSkirted trestles, stage drapes and refreshment stations, on a spec that repeats cleanly across a run of dates.
BanquetsLong tables and hotel event suites, where skirting, drapes and chair covers matter as much as the cloths.
Galas & awardsAwards nights and charity dinners, where the room is photographed and a two-inch short drop shows in every shot.
Private partiesBirthdays, christenings, anniversaries and wakes — at home, in a marquee or in a dry-hire space with no kit of its own.
Not on the list? Tell us the date and the room — the six above are simply the ones we are asked for most.

Weddings linen — the questions we get most
When should we book wedding linen?
Once the venue and the table plan are settled. Peak summer Saturdays go first, so a June wedding booked in January has far more colour choice than one booked in May.
- Numbers can move later; colour is the hard one. Fixing the palette early protects everything else.
- Late bookings are normal and usually workable — we will tell you honestly if a date is tight rather than take it and hope.
- Marquee weddings want more notice, because there is nothing on site to fall back on.
What about the top table and cake table?
They are sized separately, because they usually are different tables. A long top table takes a different cloth and a different drop from the guest rounds.
- Registrar, gift and cake tables are counted in, not left for the venue to improvise on the morning.
- Send the plan and we build the list — you approve it rather than assemble it.
- Skirting for the cake table is worth having; it is the table guests stand around.
When do you collect — that night?
The following day wherever the venue allows it. Nobody should be counting napkins at midnight on their wedding day.
- The collection slot is agreed with the venue, not left to you to arrange.
- Marquee sites are collected against your break-down schedule instead.
Do you match colours across cloths, napkins and sashes?
Yes, and it is set once and held for the date. Ordering the three separately is the usual reason a room does not match on the day.
- Ivory is not one colour across the trade — we match to a physical sample, not a name on an order.
- Over 50 sash colours, with the full chart on request rather than a short list on a page.
- Bridesmaid and stationery colours are worth sending us; matching to those is easier than matching to a description.
Can you cover the ceremony as well as the breakfast?
Yes, and it is one order rather than two. Ceremony chairs are often the venue’s worst, and covers are the cheapest change that improves a room in photographs.
- Where the room resets for the evening, the reset is planned into the same order rather than quoted as a second event.
- Aisle and backdrop dressing can come from the same drape stock.
What if it rains and everything gets marked?
Marks are expected at weddings and are not charged back on hire. Confetti, wax, grass and red wine are stain work, not damage.
- Fair wear is our cost — you are not invoiced for a cloth that had a good day.
- Genuinely destroyed items are rare and we will say so plainly rather than add a line to your invoice.
Something specific to your wedding?
Ask us directlyThe greenest wash is the one you do not repeat
Weddings linen has a particular waste problem: stock bought for one date and never used again. Hire exists precisely so it is not.
- A hired cloth is used at hundreds of weddings rather than bought for one and stored in a loft.
- Ordering against the plan means fewer cloths sent to a venue and fewer sent home unopened.
- Confetti, wax and wine are treated as stain work rather than reasons to retire a cloth.
