Single, king or anything in between, a sheet is AED 25. It's washed, dried, ironed and folded into a square your cleaner can shake straight over the mattress.

After a beach week, white cotton often carries a faint orange or yellow tide mark from tanning oil. Tell us at booking and that sheet gets treated before the main wash, while the mark is still loose.

Pillow slips and shams

The slip is where foundation, hair serum and night cream end up. Each one is AED 9, washed, pressed and counted back so a set of four stays a set of four.

Leave the pillows on the bed and send only the slips; the pillows themselves are a separate item when they're due.

Duvet and comforter covers

A king cover is the biggest single sheet of cotton in the flat, and the hardest to iron on a home board. We charge AED 31 and press it on both faces.

Fasten the poppers or ties first. An open cover swallows pillow slips in the drum and they come out twisted inside it.

Bedspreads and runners

The spread or runner across the foot of the bed rarely needs a wash between stays. Fine sand from the beach and the dry, cold air from the AC get into it over a month, though. AED 29 when you send it.

A monthly rotation works: one on the bed, one out with us.

Bath, hand and pool towels

Every towel is AED 7, whatever its size. They're dried until the loops spring back, not baked stiff, and folded in thirds for the rail.

Pool towels from a villa on Saadiyat or a tower with a rooftop pool carry chlorine as well as sand. Leave them to dry on a rail rather than bagging them wet, or they'll smell musty by pickup.

Bathrobes for guests

A towelling robe is a towel with sleeves and twice the weight, so it gets a longer dry. One costs AED 19.

Turn the pockets out before it goes in. That's where hair ties, earrings and the occasional key card hide.

The mat by the shower is damp from the first morning to the last and smells of it by checkout. Put a fresh one down at each turnover and send the used one in at AED 17.

If the backing is rubber and the label says no tumble dry, keep that mat out of the bag.

A long, hot summer turns a white pillow yellow under its slip, and guests do lift the slip. Cleaning one is AED 19.

A protector costs less than a stained mattress, but only while it's clean. Washing one is AED 35.

Cushions on a sofa facing the sea get leaned on with damp hair and sun cream. Covers go by size: AED 13 small, AED 15 medium.

Unzip them and leave the inner pads behind at the property.

Loose covers are a host's friend: the sofa stays, the fabric comes to us. Regular is AED 46, large AED 56.
