Carried daily, a bag ends up with hand cream worked into the grab handles, sunscreen on the strap where it rests on your shoulder and fine dust packed into every seam. We start on those spots, by hand, with a cleaner matched to the leather.

Totes and oversized bags

A large tote ends up as a beach bag, a gym bag and a laptop carrier in the same week. Sand settles in the base, the corners scuff on car floors and the handles darken.

There's more leather to clean and feed evenly, so these begin at AED 450. Turn it upside down and tap out the sand before it's collected.

Designer pieces get no shortcuts. Soft lambskin, pebbled leather and printed monogram canvas behave in different ways, so we test the surface and look at the hardware before any product goes near it.

Clutches spend a whole evening gripped in one hand, so the edges take on grease, foundation and a little perfume. We clean them gently by hand, and beads, crystals or a chain never get wet.

Unhook a chain strap and wrap it separately. Clutches and purses begin at AED 110.

Wallet cleaning

Years in a pocket turn a wallet dark and shiny, and the crease down the middle is the first thing to give. We clean the leather and work extra conditioner into that crease.

Open every pocket and pull out receipts, cards and the old ticket stuck in the coin section. Wallets begin at AED 200.

Leather belts

A belt absorbs sweat at the waist through the long hot months and cracks around the hole you use most. We clean it, soften the strap with conditioner and bring the buckle up bright.

A work bag rubs on car seats and sits on office carpet, and its handle takes the wear. We hand clean the leather, feed the handle where your fingers grip and clean the locks and clasps.

Backpacks

The straps and back panel of a backpack soak up sweat, and in UAE heat that soon shows as salt lines and a smell. Those areas get the longest time.

Leather patches and trims are fed once the fabric is clean. Clear the side pockets and unhook key rings. Backpacks begin at AED 250.

After a few flights a case wears rubber marks from the carousel, grey film on the shell and grit packed into the wheel housings. We hand clean it outside and in.

Delicate finishes · Pale hide

White, cream and beige leather

Pale leather shows everything: blue jeans rubbing off on the side, fake tan on the strap, a pen that leaked in the pocket. After the hand clean it gets the protective finish, which matters most on light colours.

Ink that has sat for months may fade rather than vanish. A WhatsApp photo gets you a straight view first.

Delicate finishes · Brushed suede

Suede and nubuck

Suede goes shiny where your arm rubs it and the nap lies down flat. We brush it dry first to lift the pile and loosen dust, then spot clean with a suede-safe product. No conditioner touches it.

If something spills on it, blot once with a dry cloth and leave it. Rubbing spreads the mark sideways.

Python, ostrich and croc

Scales can curl at the edges and ostrich quill bumps hold dirt, so exotic skins are worked slowly with a soft cloth rather than a brush. We look the skin over before anything touches it.
