Same Day Wash & Fold Laundry Pickup & Delivery at Hotel Riu Dubai Islands

A bag from a long beach weekend is handled just like a bag from a business trip. Each step has a purpose, and none is skipped.

• Empty pockets: keys, coins, tissues and sunscreen sachets come out first. A stray pen can mark a whole load.
• Sorting: whites and pastels go together, while dark clothes and denim get their own machine.
• Stain care: sunscreen, sauce and sweat are treated by hand before any machine, because heat in a dryer can set a mark for good.
• Wash: mild detergent, then a full rinse so nothing itchy is left in the cloth.
• Dry: on a low setting, which stops cotton shrinking.
• Fold: by hand, with a last look at every piece before it goes back in the bag.

1. WhatsApp us your name, room number and the time you would like the pickup. No app is needed.
2. Pack your bag with everyday clothes and empty pockets, and write your room number on it.
3. Meet the driver at the lobby or concierge desk of Hotel Riu Dubai Islands, if the hotel allows it. He checks the items with you.
4. Pay the secure link we text you. Then we wash, dry and fold everything.
5. Delivery comes back to the hotel, and it costs nothing.

Have shirts that need hanging? Use a second bag, tell us when you book, and the same driver takes both.

Our rule of thumb: whatever you would put in a home machine can go in the bag, but not items marked hand wash only or do not wash. After a beach stay the bag usually has:

• Swimwear: costumes, rash vests and trunks. If you can, tip out the sand and rinse away salt beforehand.
• Kids' clothes: small tees, shorts and play outfits, with zips closed.
• Sand-fit clothes: shorts and cotton tops that came back from the beach with sand in them.
• Gym kit: leggings, training tops and socks.
• Casual wear: jeans and cotton tops for evenings.

Hotel towels and robes stay in the room, as they belong to the hotel.

Your bag holds clothes you fold. A few pieces need different handling, and we can take them in the same pickup.

• Shirts, suits, abayas and kanduras: send these to Clean & Press. Each is priced on its own and comes back on a hanger.
• Silk, wool, sequins and beads: choose dry cleaning, which keeps water away from fragile cloth.
• Hand-wash knitwear and underwired bras: leave these out of the bag.
• Unsure what a label means? Send us a photo before the driver comes.

Machines are only loaded once the sorting is finished. After a stay at a beach resort, this is what we watch for.

• Dye: new swimwear and bright cottons may bleed, so they stay clear of whites.
• Zips and denim: they rub against delicate cloth, so they are washed separately.
• Sand: pockets are checked and shaken out so grit stays out of the drum.
• One order per machine: every drum is sanitised between customers.
• Soap: a commercial-grade detergent that is biodegradable and hypoallergenic. We rinse it away completely, since leftover soap irritates skin in gym kit.
• Dry cycle: a low setting. Strong heat shrinks cotton and wears out elastic, and we feel the seams before we fold.

Staying for weeks? A plan is our budget-friendly wash and fold option. Your driver turns up on one set weekday, you never have to rebook, and every bag works out cheaper than a single order.

• Essential is AED 250 a month for four bags. It suits one person.
• Family is AED 450 a month for eight bags, with room for swimwear and kids' clothes.
• No plan: a single bag is AED 65.

If you need laundry the same day, ask for express. Book before 2 PM and, for addresses we cover, the bag returns five hours after we collect it. The express area does not include every address, so send the hotel name first and we will confirm.

• Show us the mark: sunscreen on a collar, juice on a shirt, oil on a sleeve.
• Tell us what caused it: a spray or hot water used too soon can make a mark stick.
• Air damp swimwear: wet kit sealed in a bag turns sour, so hang it for an hour before packing.

The price on the list is the price you pay. Stain treatment, hanger and cover are part of it.

• Check in: pockets emptied and the care label read.
• Marks first: treated by hand before the wash, because heat sets them.
• Wash: cool for cotton to stop shrinking, gentler still for delicate cloth.
• Dry: hung up, never tumbled, so sleeves keep their length.
• Steam: collar and cuffs, then the front, then the back and sleeves.
• Final look: every piece is checked, covered and sent back to the hotel.

1. Note what you are sending, for example "two shirts, one suit, one dress", and the crease you prefer.
2. Keep it apart from your folded washing.
3. Give it to the driver in the lobby or at the concierge desk of Hotel Riu Dubai Islands, if the hotel allows it. You both check each piece.
4. Pay the secure link we text you, and the order goes out.
5. It comes back on hangers, normally the next day.

If a piece wrinkles after one wear, send it here. In a holiday or business suitcase, that is usually:

• Office shirts in poplin or twill. We start steaming at the collar.
• Blouses and skirts in light viscose or crepe, which wrinkle in a suitcase.
• Suits and trousers in wool or cotton blends. A jacket is shaped over a form so the lapels lie flat.
• Kanduras and thobes in white cotton or poly-cotton, with the front steamed flat.
• Ghutras, laid flat and returned unfolded.
• Abayas and jalabiyas in georgette or crepe. Steam alone is used, so black does not turn shiny.
• Evening dresses for a gala, a wedding or a dinner out.

• Clean clothes that are only creased? Pressing takes the creases out and skips the second wash.
• Silk, lace, heavy wool, sequins or beads: dry cleaning keeps water away from them.
• Only tees, socks and gym shorts? A Wash & Fold bag is simpler.

Send a photo of the label if you are not sure, and we will reply before the driver arrives.

The dots on a care label give the hottest setting that is safe for the cloth, and our steamer stays under it. Three dots covers cotton and linen. Two dots covers wool, silk and polyester blends. One dot covers synthetics such as acrylic. If the iron symbol is crossed out, we steam only.

• Dark crepe: direct heat can leave a shine, so black abayas and dark trousers get steam and nothing else.
• Collars and cuffs: we spend longer on these because people see them first.
• Crease: sharp, soft or none. Tell us when you book.
• Covers: plastic traps damp in the heat, so ours let air through.

Hanging clothes are collected for free at Hotel Riu Dubai Islands, the same as a wash and fold bag.

Hanging clothes usually come back the next day. Delicate fabrics can take longer. It depends on the piece, and we say how long when you book.

When you book, these details help us treat the right mark in the right way.

• Spills: wine or sauce on a shirt, and which one it was.
• Yellowing: sweat gathers in white collars and kandura necklines in summer. It lifts more easily if treated early.
• Deodorant: marks on dark and pale fabric are different problems, so say which you have.
• Oud and perfume oil: these can ring light cotton. Point to the spot.
• Preferences: a fold for travel, or no crease.
