How the zones work

We pick up pressing in every part of Dubai, from the towers of Business Bay and DIFC to Al Qusais, Mirdif and the villas out at DAMAC Hills. Collection is free everywhere on the list, with the same 24-hour return.

Dubai is split into 13 zones and 137 areas, named the way you'd give directions: Downtown and Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Barsha and Barsha Heights, Qusais, Mirdif and the east, and on out to Dubai South and Expo.

Every one of them gets free pickup and the same price per garment. Outside Dubai we cover all seven emirates, with the four northern ones on weekly rounds.

    Priced by the garment

Each garment has its own price. You pay nothing for washing, because there isn't any, and the driver's trips cost nothing either.

Nobody puts your bag on a scale. A shirt is AED 11, a kandura AED 12, an everyday abaya AED 15 and a pair of trousers or jeans AED 17.

Since there's no cleaning in it, a pressed shirt costs less than one on clean & press at AED 18. Gowns, suits, saris and the delicate abayas each have their own row on the full list.

The driver's pickup and drop-off are free on top of that.

How we keep your clothes safe

Pressing should take out the creases and leave the cloth exactly as it was. These are the habits behind that.

    • Never hotter than the tag

Temperature and steam come from the care label and stay at or under it.

    • Built shape stays

Blazers and gowns are worked on shaped forms so seams and shoulders keep their line.

    • Looked over twice

Each garment gets a hand-and-eye check before the cover goes on.

    • Off the board, onto a hanger

Nothing sits in a pile. It's hung and covered the moment it's done.

    Fine to bag up

    • Freshly washed work shirts and tops
    • Chinos, jeans, skirts and linen shorts
    • Kanduras, abayas, ghutras and saris
    • Day dresses, gowns and all-in-ones
    • Suits, blazers and coats cleaned recently
Worn clothes and a knit jumper kept on a chair, apart from the bag of clean shirts

    Hold these back

    • Clothes worn once since washing
    • Anything with a sweat line or sun cream smear
    • Dry clean only pieces that are due a clean
    • Knits you'd rather nobody steamed

We don't wash anything on this service, and a hot plate can fix a mark in place. Worn or marked pieces go to clean & press, where they're cleaned before they're pressed. Clean & press instead

    Before the driver arrives

    1. Bone dry, never damp
    2. Loose folds are fine
    3. Empty pockets, stays removed
    4. A note for any special crease

    Ready for the board?

Clean and not worn since the wash? It goes in. Anything that still needs washing travels in a separate bag on the same pickup.

This bag is for clothes that have been washed and not put on since. Work shirts, chinos, kanduras, abayas and dresses all qualify on that one test.

Ironing won't clean a thing, and heat has a habit of locking a stain in. A sweat mark on a kandura collar or a dab of sun cream on a dress can stay for good once it's been under a hot plate. Bag worn pieces for clean & press and we'll take both bags together.

Dubai air is heavy with moisture for much of the year. Fold anything away even slightly damp and it can smell musty before the van has left your street, so give the washing time to dry right through.

    Dubai pressing, your questions

What is a pressing service in Dubai?

It's professional ironing for clothes you've already washed. LPlaundry's pressing service in Dubai collects your clean but creased garments from the door, steams and presses each one by hand at the heat its fabric allows, and brings them back on hangers inside 24 hours. Nothing is washed, so you only pay for the ironing.

    • Ironing only, no wash
    • Clean, creased clothes
    • Back on a hanger, covered

How much does it cost to iron a shirt in Dubai?

Each shirt has one fixed price, shown in our prices section. That figure covers a hand steam press of the collar, cuffs and body, a hanger and a garment cover. It's lower than the clean & press rate for a shirt, because nothing is washed. Pickup and drop-off cost nothing, and the AED 50 order minimum applies.

    • One price per shirt
    • Hanger and cover included
    • See the prices section

How much is kandura ironing in Dubai?

A kandura has its own row in our prices section. That covers pressing the full length in long strokes, keeping the front opening sharp and laying the tassel flat. Send kanduras freshly washed, as sweat left in white cloth can yellow under heat. Worn ones belong on clean & press so they're cleaned first.

    • Its own price row
    • Length pressed straight
    • Washed before it comes

Is steam pressing better than ironing at home?

For most fabrics, yes: steam relaxes creases without crushing the cloth. A home iron leans on the fabric, which is how dark trousers and black abayas pick up a shine. We set heat from the care label, use steam heavily, and press jackets and dresses over shaped forms so they keep their line.

    • Less shine on dark cloth
    • Heat from the label
    • Forms for jackets

How long does ironing take with LPlaundry?

Ironing is back within 24 hours of pickup. The driver collects at the time you agree on WhatsApp, and live updates tell you when your clothes are on the way back. Short on time? Express is 5 hours if you book before 2 PM in the main areas of Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

    • Standard: 24 hours
    • Express: 5 hours
    • Book express before 2 PM

Can I send just a few shirts for ironing?

Yes, though there's an AED 50 minimum order. You can top the bag up with the week's trousers, a kandura or two, or a separate bag of washing on the same pickup to reach it.

    • Order minimum: AED 50
    • Small fee below it
    • Add a second bag

Will my black abaya go shiny after pressing?

It shouldn't, if the heat is right. Shine comes from too hot a plate pressed straight onto synthetic or crepe fabric. Everyday abayas are steamed from the shoulders down; crepe and nida abayas go on a lower setting with more time, which is why they're priced as delicate. Mention any trim when booking.

    • Steamed, not flattened
    • Delicate rate for crepe
    • Mention trim or stones

Do you iron clothes that have not been washed?

No. Pressing is only for clean clothes, because heat can set sweat, sun cream and food marks for good. Anything worn since its last wash should go on clean & press, which cleans before it presses. Put those pieces in their own bag and the driver collects both bags together.

    • Washed clothes only
    • Worn pieces: clean & press
    • Both bags, one pickup

How do I keep shirts crisp in Dubai humidity?

Hang them as soon as they arrive and leave the cover on until you dress. Humid air softens a press, so a shirt left folded or crammed in a full wardrobe loses its edge faster. Give hangers a little space, keep the AC running in the bedroom, and send collars back regularly.

    • Hang on arrival
    • Cover on until worn
    • Leave room on the rail

Can I leave my ironing with the concierge?

If your building has one, yes, just tell us when you book. Write your name and apartment number on the bag so it's easy to match. In a gated villa community, mention whether the driver needs a visitor pass. The pressed clothes come back the same way, hung and covered.

    • Concierge if your building has one
    • Name and number on bag
    • Gate pass? Tell us

    Pressing, the Dubai way

Ironing in Dubai is a fight with the air. On the coast, summer humidity averages above 90%, and July and August highs pass 43°C. A shirt pressed at home at seven can lose its edge by the time you've walked from the car park to the lift, and a collar pressed with too little heat goes soft before the first meeting. A professional press, done hot enough for the fabric and left to cool on a hanger, holds its shape far longer in that kind of weather.

    Read moreShow less

Kanduras need their own approach. The Emirati kandura has no collar, and the tassel can hang down to the waist, so the neckline, the front opening and that tassel are what people notice. We press the length in long, straight strokes and keep the opening crisp. In the cooler months a kandura may be coloured wool rather than white, and wool goes on a lower setting with more steam.

Then there's the shape of the week. Since January 2022, government offices and schools across the UAE have worked Monday to Friday, with Friday finishing at lunchtime. If your week runs that way, a Sunday evening pickup means five days of shirts are hanging in the wardrobe before Monday morning starts.

Office dress matters in the business districts too. DIFC, the financial centre, and Business Bay, which runs south of Downtown along the Creek extension, are packed with office towers. If yours is one of them, a jacket and a pressed shirt may well be daily dress. The AC inside can be cold enough for a cardigan, which is why knitwear turns up in Dubai ironing bags all year.

Handing over is simple. In a tower, the concierge can take the bag if your building has one; in a villa community, mention the gate pass when you book. Either way, the clothes come back hung and covered, so they skip the hot boot of a car.

    • Built for humid daysPressed at the right heat and cooled on a hanger, so the finish lasts longer in sticky air.
    • Kandura fronts kept sharpLong straight strokes, a crisp opening and the tassel laid flat.

    One visit, a bag each

The driver who takes your ironing can collect other bags at the same door.

Keep the pressing bag for washed, unworn clothes. Worn shirts and marked pieces go in a clean & press bag, the everyday load in a wash and fold bag, footwear in one of its own.

List what's going out in your WhatsApp message and the driver takes everything at once. Each bag returns when its own service is finished.
