Collections by area

From the villas of Mirdif and the Palm Jumeirah fronds to towers in Business Bay and Dubai Marina, our drivers collect rugs all over the city at no charge. The rate per square metre doesn't change with the address.

The list groups Dubai into 13 zones, from the creekside streets of Deira and Bur Dubai out to the newer villa communities inland. Every zone gets free collection and return.

Beyond Dubai we collect in the other six emirates too, with Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah on a weekly round. The price per square metre is the same in all of them.

    Do the sum yourself

Three prices cover everything here: two rates by the square metre, set by how the rug was made, and one fixed price for a prayer mat. Collection and return are included.

Run a tape along the length and across the width, in metres, ignoring the fringe. Multiply the two for the area, then by AED 25 for a machine-made rug or AED 45 for a hand-knotted oriental.

A prayer mat is simply AED 15. Silk and anything unusual are priced from a picture.

The total is confirmed in the WhatsApp chat before collection, and nothing is added for the drive either way.

    What a proper clean does

Bare feet are the best judge. A rug that's been done right feels springy, smells of nothing in particular, and its reds and blues look deep again.

    • Colour lifted

A pH-balanced clean brightens the pattern without pulling dye out.

    • Brushed upright

When it's dry, the pile is groomed by hand to sit soft and even.

    • No musty edges

Controlled drying means it comes home dry right through, even in humid months.

    • Fresher air low down

Dust, bacteria and allergens are cleaned from deep in the base.

    • Persian, kilim and hand-knotted pieces
    • Silk, or a rug that may be viscose (photo first)
    • Prayer mats, adult and child
    • Hall runners and loose remnants
    • Loose majlis floor carpets
Fitted carpet that stays down, an old rug with a crumbling back set apart from a rolled rug ready to go

    • Backings shedding powder
    • Splits, holes or loose warp threads (send a photo)

In two minds about one? A picture and the measurements on WhatsApp settle it, and nothing is booked till you agree. Curtains go to a separate service

    Ready for the driver

    1. Vacuum front and back
    2. Roll it pattern facing in
    3. A soft tie at each end
    4. Size and any marks on WhatsApp

Can it roll? Then it can go

Our cleaning happens away from your home, so the test is simple: can it be picked up and rolled? Fitted carpet can't come, and a rug that's splitting should be photographed first.

Loose rugs, runners, remnants, prayer mats and big majlis pieces all come to us. Wall-to-wall carpet held with glue or gripper rods isn't something we take away.

Silk has no set price, and a rug coming apart or with a crumbling back may not survive washing, so we ask for a photo of those before booking.

On collection day the vacuum goes over both faces, then roll it with the pattern hidden inside and loop a soft tie round each end. Anything else for us can wait next to it in a bag.

    • Rugs that roll
    • Fragile? Picture first
    • Fitted carpet stays

    Rug and carpet cleaning questions

What is rug cleaning in Dubai?

It's a collected service: we take your rug away, clean it and bring it back. LPlaundry's rug cleaning in Dubai covers loose rugs, runners, majlis carpets and prayer mats. Each one is checked for weave and dye fastness, washed by a method that suits its fibre, dried under control and groomed by hand. Collection and return are free.

    • Taken away, not cleaned on site
    • Method chosen by fibre
    • No charge for the drive

How much does carpet cleaning cost per square metre in Dubai?

Two square-metre rates apply, set by how the rug was made. Machine-made rugs have one rate and hand-knotted oriental pieces another, both shown in the prices section. Multiply length by width in metres for the area. Prayer mats have a single price each, and the total is confirmed on WhatsApp before collection.

    • Two rates by area
    • Mats have one price
    • Total agreed in the chat

How long does rug cleaning take in Dubai?

Longer than a clothes order, and you get the time before we start. A rug must be dry right through to the base before it comes home, and thick wool in humid weather needs longer than a thin synthetic. Your timing is confirmed in the chat at booking, so tell us early if guests are due.

    • Time given before work
    • Dried through first
    • Mention any deadline

Can you clean a Persian or oriental rug?

Yes, hand-knotted Persian and oriental rugs are cleaned at the oriental rate. Strong reds and indigo can bleed, so the colours are tested before the rug gets wet, and a pH-balanced wash brings the pattern back up. For an old piece with thin spots or past repairs, send pictures when you book.

    • Oriental rate
    • Colours tested first
    • Pictures for older pieces

Is steam cleaning safe for silk and viscose rugs?

Not always, which is why the method is chosen after the fibre is checked. Silk can lose its sheen, and viscose can turn limp and fuzzy with too much heat or water. Neither has a set rate with us: send a photo, the size and where it came from, and we'll reply with a price or tell you plainly if we can't take it.

    • Method set by fibre
    • Silk priced from a photo
    • Viscose checked first

How do I get sand out of a rug after a dust storm?

Vacuum slowly on both faces, then have the base of the pile cleaned. Shamal storms can blow for days, and the finest grains sink to the roots where a home vacuum can't reach. Once the dust has settled indoors, vacuum the back and the floor beneath it, then book a clean to lift what's left.

    • Both faces, slowly
    • The floor underneath too
    • Deep clean for the roots

Can you get pet urine smell out of a rug?

We treat it in the clean, though very old accidents may leave a trace. Urine soaks right through to the backing, and humid air can bring the smell back. Tell us where the marks are and roughly how old, blot fresh ones with paper towel and avoid ammonia sprays. Once we've looked, we'll tell you honestly what to expect.

    • Say where and how old
    • Blot, don't spray ammonia
    • Honest view after a look

    Do you clean prayer mats?

Yes, each prayer mat has one fixed price whatever its size. Daily use flattens the nap where forehead and palms rest and leaves skin oil behind, so that area gets particular attention, then the pile is brushed back up. Send the household's mats together and put the number in your booking.

    • Fixed price for each mat
    • Worn patch looked after
    • Give us the count

Do you clean fitted carpets at home in Dubai?

No, loose rugs and carpets are cleaned at our facility, not in your home. Wall-to-wall carpet glued or gripped to the floor isn't part of this service. A loose remnant, a majlis floor carpet or a runner is fine as long as it rolls up and can be taken away.

    • Only what rolls up
    • Washed at our facility
    • Fitted carpet excluded

How often should rugs be cleaned in Dubai?

Busy rugs about twice a year, quieter ones once, and after any bad storm. A hallway runner, a lounge rug or a playroom piece fills with sand and spills fast, while a guest-room rug can wait. Plan one clean for after the windy shamal weeks rather than before them, or the sand simply comes straight back.

    • Busy rooms twice a year
    • Quiet rooms yearly
    • After the windy weeks

Carpets and rugs, the Dubai way

A rug in Dubai has a harder life than the same rug in a cooler, wetter city, and the reason is in the air. In summer a low settles over Dubai and pulls the shamal in from the north-west, off Saudi Arabia, lifting desert sand as it comes; those sandstorms can last several days. Sealed windows and sliding doors don't stop the finest grains. They drift down onto the rug and work into the roots of the pile, where every footstep grinds them against the wool.

The heat adds its own trouble. July and August average highs above 43°C, with humidity averaging over 90%, so a wool rug that's been spot-cleaned at home and left damp can start to smell musty within days. That's why we dry under control and only send a rug home when it is dry right through to the backing, not just on the surface.

Rain is rare, falling on about 25 days a year. When it does come it can be serious: in April 2024 the UAE had its heaviest rainfall in 75 years, and Dubai's airport logged 164 mm. A rug that sat in water on a ground floor or in a garage needs lifting, draining and drying quickly. Send us photos and we'll tell you whether a clean is worth doing.

Villas bring their own pieces. In a majlis the cushions run along the walls, and the carpet between them hosts every round of coffee and every guest. In Mirdif, where homes are mostly villas, or along the villa-lined fronds of Palm Jumeirah, that floor carpet can be several metres across. Clear the low tables and cushions off it first, and if your community needs a gate pass for visitors, mention it when you book.

Some rugs carry a family story. Al Sadu, the Bedouin weave of sheep wool with goat and camel hair, coloured with plant dyes like henna or saffron, has had UNESCO protection in the UAE since 2011. Plant dyes can run, so a Sadu piece, a kilim from a souk or a grandmother's Persian gets a colour test on a hidden corner before it is washed. Pets add the last twist: a dog back from a walk brings sand in on its paws, and an accident on a rug turns sour fast in humid air.

    • Rolled at the thresholdLeave the tied roll outside your door, or at the security desk if your building has one, and the driver collects it there.
    • Dry to the backingHumid summers turn a damp rug musty. Ours go home dry all the way through.
    • After the shamalBook a clean once the windy weeks ease, not halfway through them.
    • Colours testedPlant-dyed kilims and Sadu pieces get a hidden-corner test before washing.

    One visit, separate bags

A driver is coming for the rug anyway, so the shirts, the abayas or the dusty curtains can share the trip.

Give each service its own bag and say in the chat what's in which, so a silk abaya never sits next to a damp rug.

Each piece returns once its own service is done, which means the rug and the clothes may come home on different days.
