Your bag from Mercure Gold District follows the same steps every time, whether it holds a weekend of clothes or two weeks.

• Pockets checked: keys, coins, cards and pens come out before the wash.
• Sorted: whites and lights go together, darks wash apart, and soft or lacy pieces get a cooler cycle.
• Stains treated: marks are dealt with before the machine, because dryer heat can set them.
• Washed: commercial-grade, biodegradable, hypoallergenic detergent, then a full rinse.
• Dried on low heat: cotton keeps its shape and dark colours stay dark.
• Folded by hand: each piece is folded and the bag is packed for the trip back to the hotel.

A few things are better left out, so nothing gets lost or damaged.

• Valuables: passports, cash, jewellery and electronics stay with you.
• Hotel towels and robes: they belong to the room and stay in it.
• Suits, silk and formal wear: send these to Clean & Press instead.
• Very delicate pieces: ask us before you pack them.
• Anything with no care label: we can still clean it, but at your own risk.

If you are unsure about a piece, message us a photo of the label before the driver arrives.

Coffee at breakfast, sauce at dinner, sweat from the souk and sunscreen from the pool all behave differently. Each mark is looked at before the wash, because a dryer can lock a stain in for good.

Strong smells, such as smoke or a market visit, get the same care. Put the clothes in the bag and mention it in your message.

Some old marks fade rather than vanish, and it helps if you tell us in advance.

A few minutes of packing makes the whole order smoother, especially if you are checking out soon.

• Pick the bag size: up to 6kg is the single bag, up to 12kg is the large bag.
• Empty the pockets: chargers, cards and receipts are easy to forget.
• Separate the smart pieces: shirts and suits go in their own pile for Clean & Press.
• Add a note: mention stains, delicate pieces or anything you need first.
• Be ready at the lobby: we confirm a time on WhatsApp, and the driver comes to you there if the hotel allows it.

The rooftop infinity pool and the hotel's fitness centre fill many a wash bag.

Swimwear is washed gently and folded. Add it to the bag the same day, so it does not sit damp for long.

Gym kit goes in with the other sports clothes. Stretchy fabrics are dried on low heat, so they keep their shape.

Both are covered by the single bag price, so you do not pay extra for a swimsuit or a running top. Mention it in your message if a swimsuit has a lining or trim that needs extra care.

• Standard: a next-day laundry service. We collect today and deliver within 24 hours.
• Express: book before 2 PM and your order can be back in 5 hours, if your address is covered.
• Same-day laundry service: if you need a bag tonight, say so in your first message.
• Handover: the driver finds you at the lobby or concierge desk, where the hotel permits it.
• Payment: a secure link is texted once the driver has looked over your items, and the order leaves for delivery when you have paid.

A good shirt is half of a business trip.

Each shirt is checked, cleaned and pressed, then returned on a hanger so it stays crisp in a hotel wardrobe. The price is per shirt and does not change with the sleeve length.

Blouses are handled the same way, with silk and soft fabrics cleaned on a gentler process.

Send shirts the day before an early meeting. Or book express before 2 PM if you need them back in 5 hours, if your address is covered.

A two-piece suit is cleaned and pressed as one order, and the price covers the jacket and the trousers. A jacket on its own is priced separately, and so is a tie.

Everything comes back on a hanger, so you can hang it straight into the wardrobe. For a suit worn once at a meeting, ask about express suit pressing. Tell us the day of the meeting and we plan the order around it.

Mercure Gold District has meeting rooms and outdoor terraces for events, so weddings, parties and conferences bring dress clothes through the lobby.

If you are dressing for one, send the outfit a day ahead.

• Evening dresses: cleaned on the process that suits the fabric, then pressed and hung.
• Beads and sequins: tell us when you book, so we handle them gently.
• Silk and crepe: steamed by hand to keep the drape.
• Traditional wear: kanduras, abayas and ghutras are priced separately and come back pressed.
• Ties and jackets: add them to the same order so the whole outfit returns together.

Give us the date of the event when you message. If the piece is urgent, tell us the hour you need it, and we say what is possible.

Traditional wear has its own prices. A kandura is AED 15, and an abaya, ghutra or jalabiya has a price of its own in the table above.

Each piece comes back pressed on a hanger. An abaya is steamed, so it keeps its matt finish. Send them with your shirts and you only need one pickup. Tell us if a piece has embroidery or beads.

The small symbols on a care label tell us how a garment should be treated, and the dots carry meaning.

• On the pressing symbol: one dot means low heat, two dots medium heat and three dots high heat.
• On the tumble dryer symbol: one dot means low heat and two dots normal heat.
• A circle: the piece can be professionally cleaned. A crossed circle means it cannot.
• A letter in the circle: it tells the cleaner which process suits the fabric.

We read the label before choosing a process. Where a label is gone or unreadable, the piece is cleaned at your own risk, so tell us the fabric when you book.

Stains are treated before cleaning, not after. Tell us what caused the mark, such as wine, oil, ink or make-up, and when it happened.

Old marks do not always lift completely, and we will not promise what a fabric cannot give. The sooner a piece reaches us, the better the result.

Express laundry delivery is for pieces needed fast. Book before 2 PM and ask for express, and your order can be back in 5 hours, if your address is covered.

Express suits a shirt before a meeting, a suit before an interview, or a dress before a dinner. Tell us the hour you need it, and we confirm what is possible before the driver comes.

Here is how paying and cover work for Clean & Press.

• At pickup: the driver looks over each item.
• Payment: a secure link comes by text. You can pay with Google Pay, Apple Pay, or a debit or credit card. Nothing is paid in the lobby.
• Delivery: the order leaves for delivery once payment is in.
• If something goes wrong: we cover up to ten times that item's cleaning price. A piece already damaged, or missing its label, is cleaned at your own risk.
