What happens to a bag from The Lakes
Every bag we collect in The Lakes follows one routine, step by step. A full bag is not rushed, and a light one gets just as much care.
- Pockets emptied: we take out tissues, pens, coins and hair ties first. One pen left in a pocket can mark a whole load.
- Split by colour: white T-shirts and pale shorts are washed together. Black leggings and dark gym tops are washed separately. Fine fabrics like lace and mesh get a cooler, gentler wash.
- Stains treated first: we work on sun cream, grass and juice marks before the wash. The dryer's heat can fix a mark for good.
- Careful wash: we use biodegradable, hypoallergenic detergent, then rinse well. Clothes smell clean, not perfumed.
- Dried on low heat: T-shirts don't shrink and elastic stays springy.
- Folded by hand: we fold every piece, look it over once more and pack it for the drive back to The Lakes.
Folded clothes are made for drawers. If a shirt needs a crisp collar, or a kandura should hang, book it under Clean & Press.
Booking a pickup in The Lakes
- WhatsApp us. Send a location pin, your villa number and your sub-community, such as Deema, Maeen or Zulal. The Lakes is gated, with security around the clock. If the gate asks for visitor details, tell us and we'll give them to the driver. You don't need an app.
- Fill the bag. Only everyday clothes go in. Check the pockets, as one pen or tissue can spoil the whole wash. Label the bag with your surname and villa number.
- We pick it up. At your door or by the villa gate, whichever suits you. Collection is free.
- We wash it. Clothes are sorted, washed carefully, dried cool and folded by hand.
- We drop it back. A WhatsApp tells you when the van leaves for The Lakes. Delivery is free as well.
Have shirts you'd like on hangers? Bag them on their own for Clean & Press and say so in your message. The driver takes both in one trip.
What goes in a bag from The Lakes
An easy rule: if it's fine in your own washing machine, it's fine in our bag. If the label says hand wash only, or do not wash, keep it at home. From a villa in The Lakes, the bag can take:
- Tennis and squash kit: shorts, skirts, polos and sports socks from the courts at the Lakes Club.
- Running clothes: tops, shorts and leggings from a jog or a bike ride on the paths round the lakes.
- Summer clothes: cotton dresses, linen shirts and shorts. Dubai's average highs are about 43°C in July and August. These clothes get washed a lot then.
- Swimwear: swimsuits, swim shorts and children's rash vests from the Lakes Club pools. Rinse them and let them dry before packing.
- School and play clothes: uniform from any Dubai school, pyjamas, and clothes for the weekend. Do the zips up first.
- Light layers: a hoodie or thin jumper for winter evenings outside, when January days are around 22°C.
What to book under another service
This bag is only for everyday clothes. We clean everything listed here too, but each has its own price. The same driver can collect it all from your villa in The Lakes on one visit.
- Work shirts, kanduras, abayas and suits: charged per piece under Clean & Press and brought back on hangers.
- Silk, wool, sequins and beadwork: water can harm these, so book dry cleaning instead.
- Bath, beach and pool towels: charged one at a time under Bed & Bath, not by the bag.
- Hand-wash knits and underwired bras: keep these out. If you're unsure about one, WhatsApp us a photo of its label and we'll tell you.
- Trainers, rugs and curtains: each has its own card in the services list higher up this page.
How we wash and dry a load from The Lakes
Much of the careful work happens at the sorting table, before anything gets wet. Here's what every load from The Lakes goes through.
- Colours: new dark jeans or a bright new top can bleed for the first few washes, so they're kept away from whites.
- Weight: heavy denim and zips can rub thin tops and make them bobble, so heavy and light pieces are washed apart.
- One household per machine: your clothes go in a machine of their own and never mix with another home's.
- Sanitised after each wash: the drum is cleaned as soon as your load comes out, before anyone else's goes in.
- Detergent: commercial-grade, but also biodegradable and hypoallergenic. A thorough rinse gets it all out, since soap left in a gym top can itch on a sticky Dubai day.
- Gentle drying: a hot dryer shrinks cotton and wears out elastic, so we keep the heat low. We feel cuffs, seams and waistbands for damp before anything is folded.
- A final look: if the folder finds a loose button or a stain that stayed, we message you on WhatsApp.
Where we collect in and around The Lakes
Our vans cover homes all over Dubai. Here that means every part of The Lakes and the neighbouring communities. Pickup and delivery are free.
- The Lakes sub-communities: Deema, Maeen, Forat, Ghadeer and Zulal, including the waterfront villas in Zulal. We collect from your villa door or gate. A location pin sends the driver straight to you.
- Security: The Lakes has gates and 24/7 security. If visitors need to be on a list, add our driver.
- Emirates Living: The Lakes is part of Emaar's Emirates Living, between Emirates Hills and The Meadows, with The Springs close by. See laundry in Emirates Hills, The Meadows and The Springs.
- The Greens: right next door, with the same free pickup: laundry in The Greens.
Can't see your street here? Send us a pin, or check the areas page.
A weekly pickup plan for The Lakes
If your villa in The Lakes sends washing every week, a monthly plan is the budget-friendly wash and fold choice. We collect on one fixed weekday, so there's nothing to rebook. A plan bag also costs less than a single bag.
- Essential: AED 250 a month for four bags, one each week. Right for a couple or someone living alone.
- Family: AED 450 a month for eight bags, two each week. Room for school uniform, tennis kit and swimwear for a bigger household.
- Pay as you go: AED 65 per bag, just for the weeks when you need one.
Choose a weekday and we'll be at your villa in The Lakes on that day each week. Set it up on WhatsApp whenever you like.
Return days, express and stain tips for The Lakes
A bag picked up in The Lakes normally comes home within 24 hours, as with most Dubai addresses.
For a same-day laundry service, ask for express laundry delivery and book it before 2 PM. If your address in The Lakes is covered, the bag is back 5 hours after we collect it. Check in the chat that your villa is covered before you count on it.
- Name the stain: sun cream on a collar, coffee down a linen top, grass stains on tennis whites. Tell us what it is and where.
- Say what you've tried: bleach, hot water or a stain remover can set a mark and limit what we can do.
- Let things dry: a damp swimsuit or sweaty gym top left in a closed bag in summer heat will smell by the next day. Dry it inside first, and brush off garden sand too.
Shirts and kanduras from The Lakes, back on hangers
In The Lakes, our clean and press laundry service covers clothes you want back on a hanger, such as office shirts, blazers, kanduras, abayas and summer dresses. We read the care label on each piece and clean it the way it says. Then we steam out the creases by hand and hang it up. Shirts cost AED 18 each, and kanduras AED 15 each. Pickup is free from every part of The Lakes, and orders are usually back within 24 hours.

What the price covers
The listed price is the whole cost of a shirt from your villa in The Lakes. Stain work, the hanger and the cover are all included.
- Looked over first: pockets are emptied, the care label is read and any loose button is noted.
- Stains done by hand: we treat marks before the wash, because warm water can set them.
- Cleaned to the label: cotton and blends are washed cool so they keep their size. Anything that needs specialist cleaning gets it.
- Hung to dry: clothes dry on hangers in filtered air, not in a tumble dryer, so sleeves don't shrink.
- Steamed in a set order: collar and cuffs, then the button panel, then the body.
- Three checks before it's covered and driven back to your villa.
Sending shirts and suits from The Lakes
- Message us a list. Something like "two suits, a kandura and six work shirts" is plenty. Add your villa number, your part of The Lakes and how you like your creases.
- Pack two bags. Keep hanging clothes and folded washing in separate bags. That way each one reaches the right service.
- We collect for free. From your door or villa gate, as you prefer. The Lakes has security at its gates, so pass on any visitor details they ask for.
- One garment at a time. Each piece is finished before the next one is started.
- Home on hangers. Normally the next day, as for most of Dubai, covered and ready to hang.
What villas in The Lakes send on hangers
Here's a simple test: does it crease on your drive to the office? Then it's a job for clean and press. From The Lakes, that's usually:
- Office shirts: poplin, twill and oxford cotton. The collar is always done first.
- Blouses and skirts: viscose, crepe and thin cotton, which crease the moment you sit.
- Suits and chinos: wool and cotton mixes. Jackets are steamed on a shoulder-shaped form, so the lapels lie flat.
- Kanduras and thobes: usually white cotton or poly-cotton. The front is steamed until it falls smooth from top to bottom.
- Ghutras: laid flat and smoothed on a table. The folding is up to you.
- Abayas and jalabiyas: georgette and crepe are only ever steamed, which stops black fabric going shiny. A shayla as well? Ask on WhatsApp for its price.
- Kurta sets: top and trousers go on a single ticket and come back as a pair.
- School shirts: send them in the week before school photos for sharp collars.
When a different service is better
- Clean but creased after washing at home? Pressing takes the creases out without a second wash.
- Silk, lace, beads, sequins or thick wool? Choose dry cleaning, which is kinder to them than water.
- T-shirts, socks, pyjamas, gym shorts? These are drawer clothes, so send them in a bag through Wash & Fold.
Unsure about something? Photograph the care label and send it on WhatsApp. You'll have an answer long before the driver reaches The Lakes.
Reading the dots on a care label
Care labels have a heat symbol with dots inside, and we go by those dots. Our steamers never go above what they allow. Three dots, about 200°C, means cotton and linen. Two dots, about 150°C, covers wool, silk and polyester blends. One dot, about 110°C, is for acrylic and other man-made fabrics. If the symbol is crossed out, the piece gets steam only.
- Dark crepe never touches a hot plate: it would leave a shiny patch, which is why black abayas and dark trousers only get steam.
- Collars and cuffs take longest: people notice them first, so we take our time.
- Your crease, written down: sharp, soft or none, or shirts folded flat for a suitcase. Say it once and we'll note it on your ticket.
- Covers that breathe: Dubai's summer humidity can average over 90%, and The Lakes is no different. Plastic would hold that damp against the shirt. Our covers keep dust off and let damp out.
Pickup from anywhere in The Lakes
Hanging clothes are collected free from every part of The Lakes, the same as folded washing. The villas sit in several sub-communities around the water, so an exact address helps the driver.
- Send three things: your sub-community (Deema, Maeen, Forat, Ghadeer or Zulal), your villa number and a pin. If your community asks for a gate pass, arrange it first.
- Mention a landmark: the Lakes Club or Reform Social & Grill helps the driver find you.
- Close by: we also collect free in The Meadows and Emirates Hills.
How long clean and press takes in The Lakes, with express
Clean and press from The Lakes normally returns the day after we collect it, the same 24 hours as most of Dubai. Delicate pieces may need longer, depending on the piece, and we tell you the time at booking if your list has one.
Need a shirt for tonight? Book express before 2 PM and it comes back on a hanger 5 hours after collection, if your villa falls inside the express area. Not every address is, so send your villa number and your part of The Lakes, and we'll check first.
Stains we see from The Lakes, and what to tell us
- Grass marks: on chinos after an afternoon in one of the parks by the lakes. Let them dry, then show us where they are.
- Yellow collars: in summer, Dubai reaches about 43°C. Sweat works its way into white collars and the necks of kanduras. Send them soon and they come out better.
- Deodorant marks: they show white on dark clothes and yellow on light ones. Tell us which, because each is treated differently.
- Oud and perfume oil: both can leave a ring on pale cotton. Show us where, and name the oil if you know it.
- Other requests: mention a loose button, or if you want no crease or a suitcase fold. Just add it to the chat.
Duvets, sheets and towels from The Lakes, priced per item
One king duvet can be a full load for a home washing machine, and villas in The Lakes have three to five bedrooms. We clean duvets of all sizes, plus sheets, pillows, comforters, bathrobes, mattress protectors and pool towels. Nothing is weighed: you pay AED 25 per sheet, AED 7 per towel and AED 56 per duvet. We collect for free. Bulky item washing (duvets, comforters and blankets) needs 48 to 72 hours. We fix your return day when you book.

- Charged per piece, never weighed
- Large drums that fit a king duvet
- Thick duvets back within 2 to 3 days
- Biodegradable detergent, gentle on skin
- Only folded once fully dry
- Pool towels get a second rinse

What each item's price includes
The price of each item covers it all: pickup from your villa in The Lakes, the cleaning and delivery home. Sheets and pillowcases go through our bed linen wash and fold. Every piece is washed, dried right to the seams, folded flat and priced separately. Small pieces aren't hurried; a pillowcase just dries faster.
- Hand-checked: corners, seams and any mark you pointed out.
- A sanitised machine just for you: your bedding is never washed with anyone else's. A big duvet needs room to move. Squeezed in, it gets wet outside while the filling stays dry.
- Detergent: hypoallergenic and biodegradable. That counts most on the pillowcase your face rests on each night.
- Felt in the centre: we reach into the middle of every duvet. The duvet keeps drying until the centre feels the same as the edges. A cover can seem dry long before the filling is, so we go by touch, not by the timer.
- Dry all through: it's only packed when there's no damp anywhere, then it goes back to The Lakes.
A duvet cover costs AED 31 on top. We take it off the duvet and wash it separately.
Booking a bedding collection in The Lakes
- List what's going. For example "three king duvets, sheets from the spare room and the pool towels", with your villa number, sub-community and a pin.
- We agree the times: you get a pickup time and a return day.
- Pack it. Roll each duvet tightly into its own bag. Sheets and towels can go in together.
- Free collection. We pick up at the door or the villa gate. The Lakes has 24-hour security, so send any visitor details in good time.
- Updates on WhatsApp. We message you in that chat until everything is home.
The chat is answered day and night. Guests due tomorrow and the spare beds still bare? A late booking is fine.
Duvets, comforters, blankets and bedspreads
Every duvet or comforter, from single up to king, costs AED 56. Each one needs slightly different checks.
- Duvet: a plain shell with loose filling that sits inside a cover. We take the cover off first and price it as its own item.
- Comforter: quilted in squares or lines, often printed, and used without a cover. The stitched pockets dry at different speeds, so we check each row by hand.
- Blanket: a standard blanket is AED 26. Bigger ones cost more.
- Bedcover: AED 29. It lies on top of the bed and gathers dust. The shamal wind lifts desert sand, and it reaches villas in The Lakes too. Mention any fringes, tassels or beads.
Split seams or filling coming out? Send us a photo on WhatsApp first and we'll advise you.
Sheets, pillows and mattress protectors from The Lakes
During summer, sheets and pillowcases in a villa in The Lakes get changed more often than duvets. So the linen is what wears thin first.
- Sheets: AED 25 each, fitted or flat. Pack fitted sheets inside out. Socks and hair ties tend to get caught in the elastic corners.
- Pillowcases: AED 9. After-sun and sun cream can leave greasy marks on cotton. Point them out, but don't rub them.
- Pillows: AED 19 each. Fold one in half and let go. If it doesn't spring back, the filling is flat and washing can't bring it back. Memory foam is never washable.
- Mattress protectors: AED 35. Heat can crack a waterproof backing, so send us a photo of the label first.
Changing every bed in one go? Write down each room's set in the chat. Then it's easy to check everything off on delivery.
A towel laundry service for The Lakes, from bathroom to pool
Soap left in the loops makes towels stiff. Every towel gets two rinses and is dried right through. A towel costs AED 7 and a bathrobe AED 19.
- Pool towels: after a swim at the Lakes Club, send them the same day. Left wet overnight in a closed bag, they start to smell.
- Gym towels: the small towel from your gym bag soaks up sweat fast. Let it air before it goes in.
- Robes: the thick collar is the last part to dry, so it's the last thing we feel before folding. Thread the belt through a sleeve so it doesn't go missing.
- Sofa covers: AED 46 for a standard cover with a zip. Mark each cushion with a number before taking the covers off.
- Tablecloths: AED 19. If you've eaten in the garden, let any spill dry, then tell us what caused it: wine, oil or sauce.
Keep wet towels away from duvets when you pack. In Dubai's humid summer, damp soaks into filling fast.
Things we can't put in a machine
A few things can't be machine washed at all. Please keep these at your villa in The Lakes:
- Electric blankets, and anything else with a plug or heating wire.
- Memory foam, as a pillow or a mattress topper.
- Weighted blankets that contain glass or plastic beads.
- Anything whose label shows a crossed-out washtub. Not sure? WhatsApp us a photo of the label, and we'll answer well before a driver heads to The Lakes.
Clothes are booked on their own. Jeans, gym kit and other everyday clothes go by the bag in Wash & Fold. Hanging shirts and abayas belong in Clean & Press. Pack one bag per service and we collect everything in one trip. For tips on caring for each kind of bedding, read our home linen guide.
Why bedding from The Lakes takes 2 to 3 days
With duvet and comforter laundering, drying takes the longest. Down, feather and polyester can hold water deep inside for hours after the cover feels dry. A duvet stored while damp soon smells musty, even in a cool, air-conditioned cupboard.
- 48 to 72 hours: thick bedding stays with us this long from pickup at your villa. The outside may feel dry while the middle is still cool and heavy, so we wait for the middle.
- A fixed return day: you get it in the chat when you book.
This tab is for your family's own beds. For linen between holiday guests, see our Airbnb laundry page.
The Lakes and the communities next door
We cover all of The Lakes, and pickup and delivery are free.
- At your villa: the driver collects at your door or gate. The Lakes has security around the clock, so arrange visitor access in advance. Near the Lakes Club, Reform Social & Grill or Emirates Golf Club? Let us know; it helps the driver find you.
- Neighbours: The Greens, The Springs and Emirates Hills are close by, each with a page of its own.
- Unsure if we cover you? Drop us a pin and we'll look.
Prices don't change by address. A king duvet costs the same from a Marina flat as from a villa in The Lakes.

The Lakes laundry, answered
What does our laundry service in The Lakes include?
It covers two services, with free pickup and delivery from your villa. Send a WhatsApp with your villa, your sub-community and the time you'd like. Wash and fold takes everyday clothes and sports kit by the bag and returns them folded. Clean & Press handles kanduras, abayas, shirts and dresses one piece at a time, on hangers.
- One price per bag, one price per hung piece
- Your wash runs in its own machine, sanitised after use
- If a piece only needs creases taken out, see the Pressing page
How far is the nearest laundry from my villa in The Lakes?
Closer than any shop: we come to your villa. Look up laundry service near me and the results are shops you have to drive to with your bag. We pick the bag up at your villa in The Lakes and bring it back, free both ways. A pin and your villa number are all the driver needs.
- Drop a pin so the driver finds your villa first time
- Both trips are free
- No app to download, just a WhatsApp chat
Is same-day laundry possible in The Lakes?
Yes, with express. Book before 2 PM, and check that your street is covered. Your clean clothes are then back with you five hours after we collect. Orders booked later than 2 PM run as our next-day laundry service, returned inside 24 hours. If you need a shirt for this evening, message us in the morning.
- Send your sub-community and we'll check express reaches you
- Duvets and heavy throws take 48 to 72 hours
- Delicates may need longer
How much does wash and fold cost in The Lakes?
Wash and fold is a flat price for each bag. The 6kg bag costs the same packed loose or tight, and the 12kg bag takes a bigger load. Hung clothes are priced by the piece. The minimum order is AED 50, and smaller orders are still collected for a small fee. Collection and return are free.
- On a monthly plan it's an affordable laundry service for weekly washing: Essential covers four bags, Family eight
- Kanduras, abayas and shirts are listed one by one
- See the price cards on this page for every rate
Can your driver get through the security gate into The Lakes?
Yes, and we bring whatever details your gate asks for. The Lakes is part of Emirates Living, which is gated and guarded day and night. If the guards need a name or a visitor note, put it in your WhatsApp message. The driver arrives with it and picks up the bag from your door.
- Start with your sub-community and villa number
- Visitor details go in the same chat
- Bags collected and returned at your villa
Can swimwear and gym kit from The Lakes Club go in the wash bag?
Yes, swimwear and sports kit go in with your everyday wash and fold. The Lakes Club has pools, tennis courts and indoor squash courts, so the basket soon fills with sweaty tops and wet costumes. Hang wet things up to dry first, because a damp bag starts to smell in the heat. Stretchy fabrics are dried on low heat.
- Swimwear dried before packing
- Turn sports tops inside out
- Mention sweat stains when you book
Do clothes from The Lakes come back pressed?
Clean & Press pieces do; a wash and fold bag is returned folded. Kanduras, shirts, abayas and dresses are cleaned the way their care label says, steamed by hand and hung. Clothes in a wash and fold bag are washed, dried and folded by hand. Want a crisp collar for work? Send that shirt as a Clean & Press piece.
- Clean & Press: steamed and on a hanger
- Wash and fold: returned folded
- Just need creases out? Try the Pressing page
Can you clean kanduras and abayas from The Lakes?
Yes, both go to Clean & Press and are priced per piece. Each is cleaned as its care label says, steamed by hand and hung for the drive back. Kanduras and plain abayas are back in 24 hours. Abayas listed as delicate may take longer, and we tell you how long when we collect them.
- Kanduras and abayas have separate prices
- Collected free from your villa
- Beaded evening wear may need dry cleaning, so photograph its care label and send it over
How do I send sheets from every bedroom of a villa in The Lakes?
Use the 12kg bag; it fits sheets from several beds. A villa here has three to five bedrooms, so changing every bed makes a big pile. Once the beds are stripped, fold the sheets and pillowcases loosely into the larger bag. They come back washed and folded, ready to put straight in the cupboard.
- Duvets and comforters take 48 to 72 hours
- Need two bags? One pickup takes both
- Bath towels can share the bag
Is your detergent gentle enough for nursery clothes in The Lakes?
Yes, it's hypoallergenic and biodegradable. British Orchard Nursery and Raffles both have nurseries in The Lakes, so small clothes and spare sets come home often. It's commercial-grade but leaves no strong scent, which matters for young skin. Your clothes go in their own machine, which we sanitise once your wash is done.
- One machine per customer
- Drum sanitised between customers
- Mention allergies in your booking
